Q What do you do?

I’m a creative storyteller via the mediums of photography and video.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I have worked as a freelance photographer and video creator for 7 years now, beginning with analog darkroom photography and filmmaking, and moving into working with brands and other creative collaborators. I have also created a Youtube channel and have worked in various formats for different social media platforms. By creating end-to-end experiences for my clients, over the years I have gained an understanding of overarching artistic vision and art direction, branding, creative visual storytelling through images and audio, technical skills in post-production, and turning projects around in a timely manner without losing quality.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I have played nearly every part on a production/set ranging from assistance to director and producer. This experience gives me a unique perspective and understanding of everyone's roles, and helps me to be an effective and empathetic communicator.

Q What are you working on right now?

At the moment I am expanding my clientele for video-production and post-production, as well as learning audio production so that I can offer custom sound design for my clients.

Q What’s your style?

My style and perspective is classic, sleek, design-centric, and has mostly served high-end fashion and design clients. That being said, I have the ability to take things in a variety of directions and I'm eager to try as many new things as possible!

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I love experimental approaches to storytelling (in my spare time I create art and short films which you can check out at miasadek.com) would like to focus more on post-production at this point, working from home and becoming a regular editor and integral part of the post-production process for my clients. I also look forward to incorporating custom original sound and music to my workflow as well -- coming soon!

Q What is frustrating you right now?

I simply want to expand my clientele and work more regularly for a roster of amazing clients.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Probably metadata or anything related to filing files.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Video and video editing is your strong suit!

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

I'd like to gain more insight on workflows with programs other than FCPX, which is what I use, but honestly I am very efficient in it.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Video editing, Video production, Still photography for campaigns, e-commerce or products.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

For the last 5 years I have been working with my main client Eyn Vas, and the experience has been one of getting to work with my dearest friends and expanding through this intentional circle. I'd like to continue to do this in new orbits, and work on ways to be more creative, have more fun and less stress in general while also getting a job well done.

Q: What is your rate?

I usually like to discuss the entire scope of a project and quote my clients based on a project rate since every client's needs are different. This project rate includes all that we discuss and the understanding is that as long as nothing else is added on, that's the rate at the end of the day. Half is paid up front at the time of the booking and half is paid on delivery. Easy!

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Please send an email to mia@miasadek.com with your project proposal and ideal budget. Feel free to be creative, out there, send me any images you like, moodboards, etc.

Q Who is a creative you admire?

Gry space, deceres, ombia studio, eyn vas, liz carrababas, noni design house

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Waking up before the sun, and keeping my hands busy.
