Q What do you do?

I use creativity to solve business goals. I am a graphic designer. Most recently, an Associate Creative Director. I specialize in creative direction, digital marketing, UI/UX design, print design, branding, video, project management, and client management. I have experience in industries ranging from food and beverage, to service and hospitality, to medical, tech, non-profit, and everything in between.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I received a degree in Creative Advertising from the University of Miami. I wanted to truly master my design skills, so I attended an intensive, year long design program at Chicago Portfolio School.

After completing my education, I joined a boutique design firm called OGK Creative. I spent 5 years there, moving from Production Artist to Senior Designer and Brand Manager. From there, I joined a large marketing agency, Media.Monks, where I crafted campaigns for Uber and Uber Eats as an Associate Creative Director.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

1. I don’t design things just to make them pretty (though they will be, of course, pretty). I design with intentionality and strategy.
2. My past experience has given me a unique mastery of both the creative side and the project management side. I’m equally comfortable creating a campaign from concept to completion, as I am facilitating client meetings, aligning on business strategies, and scoping projects.
3. I don’t have an ego. If something is not working - let’s scrap and start over!
4. I’ve made a name for myself based on my work ethic. Talk to anyone I’ve ever worked with!!

Q What are you working on right now?

Right now, I’m working on raising a tiny human. I took a pause to be with my baby, but said baby (now sassy toddler) is starting preschool and I’ve got a lot of pent up creativity to express.

Q What’s your style?

I try to keep a timeless design style - I stay current, but don’t hop from trend to trend. I lean towards a crisp, minimalist design style. Though I absolutely love playing with patterns. I am adamant about including diversity in everything I do.

Finding a project to represent my exact style is tough, because finding the right style for my clients and their audience is what is most important, and is what is showcased on my portfolio. Ugh, is that a cop out??

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I’ve been in the design industry for 10 years, working on everything from print, digital, branding, web, video, and more. Lately I’m feeling drawn to web and branding. On the other side, I've loved dipping my toe into project management and am curious to follow that path a bit more as well.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

I wish there were more hours in the day. As a creative, there are constantly projects that call to me! As a mom, there is constantly a little voice calling MAMA!

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Cook!!!!! I’m always cooking for my 1.5 year old son. He refuses leftovers and constantly decides he hates things he once loved. Oof.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I spent a lot of time thinking I wasn’t good enough for this or that. I would tell my younger self that everyone starts somewhere. So just jump in.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Honestly, how to balance a career and kids.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Roles: general design, freelance design, Sr. Art Director, Associate Creative Director, UI/UX/Web Design, project manager, brand manager Type of opportunity: contract or project based work, from the months of September-December/January

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

Generally, my ideal client/job would be someone who is passionate about what they do. I love nothing more than someone with a strong mission. Let me help you get your vision out into the world!

Logistically, my ideal job would be remote, and flexible on time. I pick my son up from preschool at 2pm. I’m looking to work during the hours of 7am-1pm PST. I would also be very interested in contract work - particularly from the months of September-December or January.

Q: What is your rate?

I’m open to project based rates or hourly rates. Generally looking for $45-$65/hr.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Shoot me an email at bethkuebler13@gmail.com. Tell me a little bit about your needs, your budget if possible, and your timeline.

Q Who is a creative you admire?

Kristen Smeehuyzen — She’s a designer based out of South Florida. My original mentor. She inspires me with her clean but quirky, unique and colorful creative solutions.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Books. Museums. Nature. Curiosity. Travel.
