Gabby Marchese
Q What do you do?
“I’m a senior copywriter by day, and poet by night. ”
I'm an inherent storyteller, and distilling big ideas into words is something that has always come naturally. As a copywriter, I help brands shape their unique voice, own their identity, and translate that essence in a way that captures, compels, and converts. I support brands in voice & messaging, website & PDP copy, product launches & campaigns, email & lifecycle messaging, and more.
I also share personal writings and short essays on my Substack.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I had always been writing, poems as a kid, for the school newspaper in high school, and once I got to college I started writing for magazines and some small publications. I was studying communications at the time, and began doing copy work for some local businesses's social media and websites. From there I started freelancing full time, writing articles, landing pages, emails, and social media for brands and businesses in the wellness and food space. I then went in-house as a copywriter at an apparel company managing and writing all of their copy for years, and that takes us to today where I am a senior copywriter at an ad agency leading copy for a diverse array of projects and working with a really fun client base.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I don't just write copy, I help brands identify and own their unique voice and apply it across the board. It's like holding up a mirror for someone, helping them see and understand themselves and who they are and support them in showing up authentically. Authenticity and distinction are memorable. You can write good copy but if your brand doesn't have a distinct and identifiable voice and tone, it can go overlooked. I think that makes all of the difference in this work. Identifying who you are, and owning it.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Creative direction. Being a part of the CD of a project from the conceptual to final phases is my favorite.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
The dishes :/
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
You can't expect yourself to be masterful at something straight out the gates. Put the time in, and you'll continue to improve. Give up and you will never discover your potential.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Freelance & contract copywriting / copy creative direction opportunities.
I'm looking to collaborate with beauty, wellness, food, and lifestyle brands in the CPG space. Anything from big campaigns and launches, to everyday email marketing and organic social is my jam.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I love working with brands that aren't afraid to think outside the box and have some fun when it comes to creative. Campaigns that have some color and projects with personality always peak my interest.
The poet in me is also a sucker for a good brand manifesto or anything that requires a juicy script.
Some dream clients would definitely be Moon Juice, Flamingo Estate, and Poppi.
