Bonnie Clyde Seeks an Art Director

Bonnie Clyde

Seeks an Art Director

Los Angeles, CA

About the Role

Bonnie Clyde is an eyewear brand based in Los Angeles. We're a small team building something with intention, and we're looking for people who care about the details as much as we do.

We're looking for an Art Director to work closely with our founder and creative team across campaigns, brand, marketing, and physical experiences. This is a true hybrid role — strong designer + art director — for someone who thrives in both concept and execution and brings elevated taste to everything they touch.

You'll take primary ownership of how Bonnie Clyde shows up visually — across campaigns, eCommerce, social, events, retail, packaging, and printed collateral. As the brand scales, we need someone who ensures our day-to-day creative output is as thoughtful and intentional as our biggest moments. You'll work directly with the founder while partnering with photographers, stylists, freelance designers, and the marketing and creative teams to raise the bar across the board.

This is a hands-on role for someone who loves building visual systems, sweating the details, and delivering consistent, beautiful work across both digital and physical spaces.

**What You'll Do**

Creative Direction & Campaigns

  • Own the visual direction of the brand across campaigns, product launches, and seasonal moments

  • Concept and pitch creative ideas for shoots and campaigns — from moodboard to final output

  • Art direct photo and video shoots including casting, styling direction, hair and makeup, and set design

  • Design visual treatments, presentation decks, moodboards, and mockups to articulate and sell through creative ideas

  • Present and communicate creative concepts clearly to internal team and external collaborators

Brand & Design Direction

  • Set and maintain the brand's visual world: typography, color, photography direction, and tone

  • Direct and oversee day-to-day design output across marketing materials, campaign assets, flyers, signage, and printed matter

  • Ensure all assets align with the brand's visual language and level of polish

Social Media & Content

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to ensure social content is visually cohesive and on-brand

  • Provide art direction for social-first content, helping shape how the brand shows up across platforms

  • Contribute to the visual strategy for social campaigns, product launches, and brand moments

Retail, Events & Physical Brand

  • Support visual design for pop-ups, retail spaces, events, and physical activations

  • Design and prepare signage, displays, layouts, and in-store graphics

  • Work with internal teams and external partners to bring physical brand concepts to life

Freelancer & Creative Management

  • Brief, manage, and quality-control freelance designers, photographers, and other creatives

  • Research and recommend visual collaborators — photographers, stylists, directors, designers — to align with the brand's creative goals

  • Give clear, specific creative feedback that makes other people's work better

  • Use AI tools as part of the creative process — for ideation, mockups, and rapid visualization

**What We're Looking For**

  • 4–7+ years of experience in art direction or graphic design, ideally within fashion, accessories, or culturally adjacent brands

  • Strong designer + art director skillset — this is a true hybrid role

  • Exceptional visual taste with a deep, constantly evolving reference library and a strong understanding of composition, lighting, typography, and layout

  • Able to articulate why something works, not just that it does

  • On-set experience art directing photo and video shoots, from pre- through post-production

  • Experienced managing freelancers or external creatives — writing briefs, giving direction, pushing for better work

  • Comfortable working across campaigns, graphics, and physical environments

  • Highly organized — you naturally bring order to creative chaos

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with Figma and AI-assisted creative tools a plus

  • Based in Los Angeles or willing to relocate. This role requires physical presence

**Qualities of an Ideal Candidate**

  • Culturally fluent — current on fashion, art, music, and design, with awareness of relevant artists, photographers, and creative collaborators

  • Highly imaginative — you bring original ideas and challenge default approaches to content and brand expression

  • Detail-obsessed — equally focused on creating memorable work and delivering it cleanly and on time

  • Ego-less attitude — you give credit where it's due, support your teammates, and bring a collaborative energy to every project

  • Thinks critically — you can manage multiple projects at once, know when to pivot, and solve creative problems without waiting to be told

**Compensation**

  • $85,000–$110,000 depending on experience

  • Full-time, Los Angeles-based

  • Opportunity to grow into a more senior role as the brand scales
