Alessandra Angelini
Q What do you do?
“I work as a full-service creative studio that prioritizes high-concept projects to deliver on creative direction, strategy, and design.”
My ethos is to bring a considered, tactile sensibility to everything I create.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I worked as an in-house art director in fashion and beauty at brands like Tanya Taylor, Delphine, and Crown Affair before becoming an independent art director.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I care a lot about the story behind every project in a way that often gets neglected. Without the story, I don't believe the design can be meaningful or effective.
Q What are you working on right now?
I've been working with influencer brands like Phe Phe and Bar Dog on their brand identities and packaging, as well as taking on really exciting event creative for Intimissimi/Calzedonia.
Q What’s your style?
My style is European with a tactile sensibility. A recent project, Studio Stelo, really represents that well I think!
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I'm really interested in taking on special projects like smaller campaigns and experiential work. I love when the work can be brought to life, like in events or publishing.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
All mood boards looking the same! Finding original ideas requires original searching, like going out in real life, traveling, opening a magazine or an old book. I'm so sick of Pinterest (but still love it).
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Collect really fascinating items in books or take photos in art galleries as inspiration.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
When I worked in-house, I wish I brought more experimental ideas to the table! It's easy to get stuck in the rut of the business, but when brands have more fun I think they connect with their audience a lot better.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
How to stop AI from ruining creativity!
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I still have a very special place in my heart for fashion and beauty work, but I'm excited about special projects in content-first campaigns and events/experiential work. I want to make things people can walk into, touch, and really experience all around them.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I would love to plan a full-weekend pop-up for a bridal company or something like that! I'd love to curate a gallery, or even design a book cover!
Q: What is your rate?
For identity work, most projects start somewhere around $3,500 and expand from there depending on what's needed. But for special projects, I'm open to being flexible! The same goes for photo shoots, with varying costs for art direction and production.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Write me a note at desk@atelierangelini.com!
Q Who is a creative you admire?
For incredible UX design! Phebe Pierson @phebedid
For design on many kinds! Pamela Wang @pamelawwang
For photography! Meg McConville @megmccstudio
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
I collect art books and constantly scan their pages.
