Q What do you do?

There are three types of roles I typical work in, although I do dabble in other areas as well.

I most frequently work as a casting director finding the most suitable talent for photoshoots, video shoots and film. I also work as a visuals editor, concepting ideas for shoots, bringing together the right group of artists to make it happen. Lastly I often work as a creative producer overseeing projects from start to finish.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I’ve worked in New York in the fashion industry for over seven years now, starting as an intern at a production company and working my way up over the years.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I’ve worked with some of the most high-profile and forward thinking brands and talent over the years. I’ve maintained great connections within the industry. I genuinely care about my work and in particular the people I work with. I like to make sure that people are having fun while they get the job done.

Q What are you working on right now?

Right now I’m working on some projects with the branded content photo team at a large media company. I’m also doing menswear consulting for a couple of clients.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

If you’re interested in getting to know my visual style you can check out my portfolio here or my finsta where I post visuals that align with my personal taste. If I had to describe my style and perspective in three phrases I would say textured materials under natural sunlight, the Coppola family, low flirty heels.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

What has been frustrating me recently is when a really awesome project is held up by overly strict corporate codes. Sometimes it stands in the way of a truly creative vision that could still push the bottom line forward.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

I would have this person handle all of my accounting and annoying admin paperwork ($20 does not seem enough for something like that though!)

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I wish I would have just fully gone for an artist life immediately upon graduating from college. Moved to Paris, lived in the countryside, gone all in on the creative thing.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Cinematography is so technical and as a director I am learning more about how to speak the language of cinematographers and about the incredible equipment they are working with.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Looking for jobs art directing photoshoots, support with brand identity, casting director roles and commercial directing roles.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I recently worked with a brand where we turned around a shoot in two weeks and everything just went so smoothly. The client was open minded and easy to work with, we found incredible talent to work with and had a healthy budget to really bring things together.

Q: What is your rate?

$500 - $1.5+ / day for casting director
$1000+ / day for directing
Also do project rates and am flexible depending on whether or not something is editorial, commercial, a small brand, women, poc owned etc.

Q Who is a creative you admire?

Shirley Chan, cinematographer. Everyone who knows Shirley loves and respects her and her work speaks for itself.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Film forum, collaging, tumblr, reading fiction, long aimless walks.
