Q What do you do?
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I’ve worked in the graphic design industry for over 15 years with a background in illustration, fashion and photography. When the global pandemic happened I binged Squarespace and css courses (becoming totally obsessed) so naturally started my own studio. I love working with passionate entrepreneurs and just as much; collaborating with designers with web development. Living my working from home dreams with my greyhound at my feet, in my small country town while serving clients globally.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
Building relationships, quality and speed.
Q What are you working on right now?
My current client is a wedding stylist and photographer, as well as working on development for 2 designers which I just love.
Q What’s your style?
My latest project was for an underwater maternity photographer that I am really proud of. I think the dark, moody vibes are totally my taste and style. https://www.jodymuston.com
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I’d love to do more web development for designers! I love working with other creatives, and development and learning new code tricks is my favourite thing to do.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
Marketing my business and services. I kind of hate instagram these days I would love to spend less time on there and more time marketing elsewhere!
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Update my portfolio and do some Pinterst marketing for me!
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Charge a bit more for your first few websites, they were amazing and you were just scared! Imposter syndrome big time (still have it tbh)
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I would actually love to talk a Showit Expert. I feel like there are so many cool web builders out there, I’d love to know a bit about them all.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Creatives and service based businesses, web design and development projects.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I love working with photographers they obviously always have amazing imagery to work with. The same with interior designers. Also just anyone who is up for some fun creative features on their website, a little animation maybe, some video, some GIFs. I’m also really into working as a developer with designers at the moment who want some input into the design as well as the build. Working with other creatives is just so much fun.
Q What is your rate?
Websites typically start around $3600 AUD, however it depends on how many pages and complexity of design. For Shopify about the same. Development projects depend on the scope of the design - get in touch, I am open to discussing prices! I also offer ADHOC work at an hourly rate.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Get in touch via my website because I often forget to reply to dms - sorry! www.failtestudio.com/contact
Q Who is a creative you admire?
I love working with brand designer The Ink Garden - we just get each other and she is amazing at what she does.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Walking outside with my greyhound son.
