WHAT DO YOU DO?
“I am a marketing specialist both in the field and in the digital space. ”
I have been working in marketing for the last 11 years both in the field and in the digital space. I have done everything from social media management to influencer marketing, however I am now focusing all of my energy on content creation and video editing. My video editing experience has all been in the YouTube space where I've helped clients stay consistent with their uploads and contributed to creative strategy to help them maintain a strong channel.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
I fell into both field and digital marketing but as for digital I actually started this later when I was feeling burnt out in the field. I happened to have a friend that needed help shooting her YouTube videos which is how I fell in love with content creation. She suggested I get into social media management so with the experience I had working with her I was able to land my first social media job at an agency.
How do you stand out in your field?
Is it totally cliche to say that my work speaks for itself? If so, why don't I further clarify that by saying I definitely have a unique vibe, aesthetic wise. On the copy side, my commitment to story telling is evident, along with my overall consistency. On the client side I like to think of myself as someone that goes above and beyond, without trying to nickel and dime every step of the way because that's just not my style.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I have been spending a lot of my time working with Vimeo on their social media team which has been really exciting. I also have my hands in recruiting now specifically within events/marketing roles for a staffing agency.
Aside from that, I am still focusing on expanding my portfolio with content creation and video editing projects.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
I don't like to post too much online about my projects because I like to give my clients privacy, so I post just enough to intrigue ;) With that being said, the experience and projects that I am most proud of are in a portfolio that I have worked very hard on and I am happy to send it to anyone interested.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
I really enjoy content creation and wish there were more projects that didn't combine content and social media management because they're so different from each other. I also love video editing and could see myself taking on a full time editing project, that sounds like a dream honestly.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
What frustrates me is when people call on a freelancer with the expectation that they will be "cheep" and everyone has a different idea of what that means but it's the concept that frustrates me. It seems like people are willing to shell out obscene amounts of money to an agency but when it comes to a freelancer they're looking for a deal. I wish there was more respect and support for freelancers because we all know freelancing is not free.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
I would probably hire someone to help me find new clients :)

Two years ago when I was getting into digital marketing I wish I could have told myself: don't sell yourself short.
This is something I used to do a lot and since then I realize how silly that was because all of my experience intertwines with each other but I couldn't see that back then. If I had, I probably would have leveraged it more when I was looking for my first social media management position.
Everything happens for a reason though, and I am truly so grateful to the company that gave me my first job without actual smm experience.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
I would love to eventually start talking to professionals within videography because it's something I've thought a lot about getting into over the years and feel it goes hand in hand with video editing.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I really want to keep exploring my love for video editing, whether it's helping build a YouTube channel or documenting another birthday. I want to try new things outside of my comfort zone too so I'm always open to new ideas. I am also open to one off recruiting projects especially for roles within events/the creative space which is what I have the most experience in.
