About the Role:

The Communications & Storytelling Manager plays a key role in advancing the Center for Courage & Renewal’s mission by sharing the story of our work and impact with clarity, consistency, and heart. This position is responsible for communicating CCR’s message across digital and print channels, crafting stories that illustrate the transformative power of our programs, and ensuring that our brand and communications consistently reflect the organization’s values and voice.

Working closely with colleagues across programs, development, and strategy, this role is ideal for a creative communicator who loves crafting stories that move people to reflect and act. The right candidate will have strong writing and design skills, a keen eye for detail, and a collaborative spirit. They will be equally comfortable interviewing a program participant about their experience, managing a content calendar and social media accounts, designing visual assets, and refining language to ensure CCR’s communications embody the authenticity and integrity at the heart of our work.

This is a US-based, full-time, remote/work-from-home position requiring less than 20% travel for events and meetings. Because of our global presence, some work outside typical office hours may occasionally be required. The starting salary range is $75,000 – $80,000, with benefits that include medical, dental, vision, life/disability insurance, retirement matching, paid time off, paid family leave, wellness support, and opportunities for personal and professional development.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Develop and manage CCR’s content calendar to ensure a consistent rhythm of communications that align with organizational priorities, program cycles, and campaigns.

  • Write, edit, and produce engaging content for digital and print channels including newsletters, social media, website updates, and reports that deepen engagement with our current community and attract new audiences to CCR’s work.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across programs, development, and strategy to identify compelling stories and translate complex ideas into accessible, inspiring messages.

  • Develop and maintain systems to capture and curate stories from program participants, facilitators, and partners that illustrate the impact of CCR’s mission and approach.

  • Equip staff, board, facilitators, and partners with the language, resources, and materials they need to share CCR’s story effectively and consistently across their own networks.

  • Manage CCR’s digital communications channels, including social media (LinkedIn & Facebook), email campaigns, and the organization’s website, ensuring content drives audiences to learn more and take action.

  • Track, analyze, and report out metrics for marketing and communications efforts, using data and insights to inform decisions and improve engagement.

  • Design and produce visual assets (graphics, flyers, reports, presentations, etc.) that align with CCR’s brand standards and visual identity.

  • Maintain and update website content for accuracy, accessibility, and alignment with organizational messaging and brand guidelines.

  • Uphold the integrity of CCR’s brand by ensuring consistent tone, style, and visual presentation across all materials and channels.

  • Manage CCR’s marketing budget, including tracking expenses, forecasting needs, and maximizing return on investment for paid or contracted work.

  • Coordinate with vendors, freelancers, and creative partners as needed for design, video, and production projects.

  • Support internal communications and cross-team collaboration to ensure staff are informed, equipped, and aligned on key messaging and materials.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in communications, storytelling, marketing, or related fields, ideally within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.

  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling, and accessible content.

  • Strong design skills and proficiency with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar programs for creating digital and print materials.

  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts, email marketing platforms, and content management systems (such as WordPress, Squarespace, or similar).

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting tools to measure engagement, track performance, and inform decision-making.

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain brand consistency across channels, ensuring cohesive voice, tone, and visual identity.

  • Experience managing budgets and coordinating with vendors, freelancers, and creative partners.
