Selkie is a luxury fashion brand founded on fantasy, femininity, and the art of escape. Known for ethereal silhouettes, storytelling prints, and unapologetic maximalism, we create pieces that evoke emotion and transport our audience into a dream world. Each campaign, product, and paragraph is part of a living fairytale — and we’re seeking a talented freelance Copywriter to help articulate the soul of Selkie through every word.


Position Summary

We’re looking for a gifted wordsmith with a deep passion for storytelling, historical richness, and romantic prose. The Freelance Copywriter will be responsible for crafting compelling copy across our emails, SMS campaigns, website, product descriptions, and marketing materials. This role requires a strong grasp of Selkie’s aesthetic voice — whimsical, emotive, and intelligent — and the ability to translate that into impactful brand communication.


Key Responsibilities

  • Write and edit engaging copy for marketing emails, SMS, and social media captions

  • Craft imaginative, historically-rich product descriptions that highlight the story and fabric of each design

  • Create promotional copy for sample sales, product launches, collection campaigns, and landing pages

  • Contribute to website content including homepage messaging, banners, and brand storytelling elements

  • Ensure brand tone and language consistency across all touchpoints

  • Collaborate with the creative, marketing, and design teams to align messaging with visuals and seasonal direction

  • Contribute historical and imaginative writing that deepens Selkie’s fantasy world and elevates product narratives

  • Support our affiliate and social managers in providing copy to ensure cohesive messaging across all areas of the brand

  • Support special projects including brand books, press releases, and founder’s messages


Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of copywriting experience in fashion, lifestyle, or editorial

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a poetic, evocative voice

  • Strong understanding of brand storytelling and tone of voice

  • Ability to write historically-inspired, romantic, and whimsical narratives

  • Familiarity with fashion industry terminology and ecommerce best practices

  • Experience writing for email marketing and product descriptions

  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams

  • Passion for Selkie’s world and a desire to help it grow through the written word

Location: Remote (with availability to work Pacific Time hours)

Type: Freelance / Project-Based

Pay: $20-$25/hour
