We’re seeking a talented Print Designer to help bring Selkie’s imaginative worlds to life through original, romantic, and emotionally resonant prints.


Position Summary

The Freelance Print Designer will collaborate closely with Selkie’s Creative Director and Brand team to concept, design, and execute original prints across ready-to-wear collections, capsules, and special projects. This role requires a strong artistic point of view, a deep appreciation for storytelling through design, and the ability to translate conceptual inspiration into commercially viable, production-ready prints.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design original, Selkie-specific prints aligned with seasonal creative direction and brand storytelling

  • Translate mood boards, narratives, and references into repeat patterns and placement prints

  • Develop artwork for various product categories (dresses, gowns, separates, accessories, etc.)

  • Prepare production-ready print files, including repeats, colorways, and scale adjustments

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Creative Direction, Design, and Production team

  • Revise and refine prints based on feedback while maintaining creative integrity

  • Ensure all artwork meets technical requirements for fabric printing and manufacturing


Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Print Designer within fashion, textiles, or related creative fields

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating original print design, pattern development, and storytelling

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop (textile design experience strongly preferred)

  • Excellent sense of color, composition, and romantic/maximalist aesthetics

  • Ability to work quickly, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong communication skills and openness to feedback

  • Experience preparing artwork for production is a plus

  • Familiarity with luxury, editorial, or fantasy-driven brands is highly preferred
