I have always grew up timid. There’s alot of solo but also collaborative work in my course. I was suprised to find myself often in a leadership position when doing collaborative work with my classmates. It has given me more confidence in putting forward my opinions and ideas. I seem to have the power to see greatness in everyone’s work and be able to combine peoples strengths to create something even better than what we imagined!
My favorite thing about the course was the lecturers and the projects. I’ve never been big on school but since starting my graphic design course at Edinburgh College, I found a great set of lecturers who give me confidence and help me grow as a student graphic designer. The projects are always different and interesting, including real clients and or collabs with other courses like music business and illustrators.
My advice for someone thinking about taking the course is be authentic and confident in your own work. Don’t compare yourself to others, everyone has their own strengths and you have yours. Always think of the positives and don’t let anything drag you down from pursuing the very best version of yourself. Most of all, enjoy the course and be your true creative self!
One good thing that came from the course is building my skillset and pursuing a creative career. I’ve always grown up being told creativity does not pay the bills. Here I am pursuing my dreams!
