Q What do you do?

I’m a web designer and Squarespace developer helping founders grow their business through intentionally designed, high-performing websites.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

The design bug bit me when I was just a girl.

A little strawberry blonde girl with a funny vibe and a green spiral notebook. That notebook stored my first “design projects” with pencil sketches of different fashion designs I had dreamed up. That creative sparkle led me to get a Bachelor of Science in Merchandising and ultimately to my career in marketing.

About a decade into my career and I now have experience in site optimization, online merchandising, data management, and digital marketing. Of all the titles I’ve had, there was one consistent thing I loved about my job and that was to understand people better. Marketing (good marketing) is all about empathy. It’s about making every decision based on how your audience would feel and as a result, you spend a lot of time really getting to know them. That is what I hope to do for all my clients!

Q How do you stand out in your field?

The DreamLayne® process keeps things simple, focusing on meaningful design and high-performing development. Before the design starts, I work with my clients on website strategy and copy, ensuring I design around their vision (not the other way around).

Q What are you working on right now?

Recently launched the new DreamLayne® site! I have never been more proud of the website, or felt more aligned with it. It was really written and designed from the heart.

Q What’s your style?

DreamLayne's new site reflects my design style perfectly. I am obsessed with typography and love using it to tell the brand story. I like to use creative simplicity in my work, focusing on a clean, editorial feel.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I would love to start learning more about photography.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Taxes (need to take the course).

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Taxes, lol. Honestly though, it would be a dream to only focus on the art. So, anyone that could help with the less inspiring business things (to me) would be awesome.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Stop comparing. Stop that. It only distracts from the art that could be created when you listen to your intuition and focus on what totally lights you up! There is so much beauty in your words. Write your copy and allow your words to inspire the design.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Lois from Up Club. I have completed a couple of her copywriting courses and they have really inspired me.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Custom portfolio websites for photographers, writers, florists, and other creatives. I would also love to do a non-profit website!

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

Kind, open-minded people!

DreamLayne clients usually relate to one of these:
1. You’re ready for this next step in your business, but tech savvy isn’t quite how you would describe yourself. Websites aren’t your thing but you are savvy enough to know the importance of one.
2. You have a website but it doesn’t really reflect your brand and lacks the functionality you need. Although you have a website, you know collaborating with a professional will help you take it to the next level.

Q What is your rate?

Investment levels can vary based on each client’s specific needs but custom website projects start at $1,200 with payment plans available.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Your dreamy new website starts here. Please complete the form linked below, and I will be in touch soon! Any other inquiries? Feel free to email me at abby@dreamlayne.com. So stoked to get to know you and your business better!

Q Who is a creative you admire?

I love High Moon Studio's creative work, flawless every time. It's also really cool to hear the founder's take on different marketing strategies. I took some classes from her and learned so much! @highmoonstudio

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
