Adrianne De Loia
WHAT DO YOU DO?
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
ha! I shared desks with people (duck tape down the middle), I worked my ass off while living a full life, I bit the bullet every couple years, working in major brands or design agencies so that I could experience gaps of freedom. I started Lassie Collective in 2017.
HOW DO YOU STAND OUT IN YOUR FIELD?
I corral exceptional designers who live all over the world. Team members are picked based on project needs. In our spare time, we make artwork and collaborate without pressure from business objectives coming from clients.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
A fragrance/beauty brand that's secret, launching in 2020. School Lights - a creative service I'm launching solely for Preschools. Artwork - my personal work and "A Shape" which is a series: ashape.com
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
Edited, Minimal, Thoughtful, Lighthearted, Wise.
WE ALL HAVE MULTIPLE SKILLS OR WORK IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD FOCUS ON MORE?
Painting
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Not being able to focus because too much scatterbrain happening.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Organize and tell me what to do.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
I wish I could truly understand that routines can give peace. I wish I was more mindful and active about enforcing time brackets that are filled with X or X so that things move forward and work or life doesn't get overwhelming. I am really spontaneous - so, I wish I could have told myself this in the beginning before being spontaneous became part of my identity.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
How to network without feeling like a scumbag.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Beauty! Specifically working with beauty brands on product design & branding.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
My ideal client/job is the one I just did for a year and a half.. the relationship with the client was so clear that we could actually text ideas instead of spending hours creating presentations... make the whole thing fun and extremely fast-paced. The best part was the client felt like they owned it and truly involved in the creative process.
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
If it's a preschool website for example - I'm figuring out how to create a pattern so that I can sell a one-and-done in a short amount of time for 4K. If it's a brand evolution or revolution it could be 20K per month for a year or longer.
WHO IS A CREATIVE THAT HAS HELPED YOU ELEVATE YOUR WORK?
Hillman Curtis (he passed away, unfortunately) - we worked together on several projects he's a deep thinker and we reveled in one another's style and approach.
Katie Barcelona and Deirdre Stone - because we collaborate so well together and get laughs on the side, we enjoy being together.
Jared Richardson on artwork, because he questions from the ground up, which can be frustrating because you have to explain a truck load of information over and over, which is good practice.
Dave Bravenec - he taught me how to break all the rules
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Shoot me a note about: people involved, project scope, product info and ideal market positioning, and finally: timing & budget.
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
This is not a choice for me. I just am.
