WHAT DO YOU DO?

I have one traditional job and many freelance side projects.

My 9-5 is Fashion Director, focused on trend forecasting and marketing in the home decor space. My freelance life consists of content creation and social media management. I’ve worked with a whole host of clients in the fields of fashion, hospitality, home decor, and travel! I’m a true chameleon and I love to stay busy.

 

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

Drive and passion got me to where I am today. When I first graduated college I took the traditional path of working for a large corporation, and securing a 401k, because that’s what was expected of me. It’s not necessarily what I wanted. About 4 years following, I started a blog/Instagram because I needed a creative outlet outside of my day to day, and because of this “hobby” I am where I am now. It’s opened so many doors for me, I’ve worked with companies I could only dream of working with. I also have an ongoing freelance position as social media manager at a prestigious hotel.

 

How do you stand out in your field?

I’m extremely adaptable. It’s important to be able to easily transition between lifestyle or category (like home, fashion, travel etc..). It’s about having an eye for what looks good.

 

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

Currently I’m work on expanding my knowledge in design by learning the Adobe Suite. I’m also working towards freelancing full time.

 

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?

I wouldn’t say I have a specific style, and this goes back to question 3. I’m extremely adaptable to the client that I’m working with. I do have a passion for sustainability and small business. I just worked with Brooklinen, a start up out of Brooklyn that brings affordable bedding to the masses. I work with a lot of hospitality clients and my longest standing client is Urban Outfitters.

WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?

Content Creation/Social Media Management is my passion. There’s never a time where I’m happier than when I’m shooting and creating content for myself or for a client.

 

IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?

I would hire a manager or consultant to help me get more work!

 

LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?

I wish I could have told my college self that I didn’t need to start off in corporate America in order to get to where I want to be because now I feel a little trapped. I need to let go more and focus.

 

IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

I would want real talk about how they got to where they are now, what steps they took, and how far out of their comfort zone they had to go to achieve what they wanted.

 

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

I’m looking for content creation, social media management.

 

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.

My ideal client is someone who believes in me and gives me the freedom and autonomy to do my job. I don’t think anyone likes to be micromanaged! I’d love to travel for work, I do some of that now and would like to continue. My ideal collaboration right now would be social media management for the Santa Monica Proper Hotel.
