WHAT DO YOU DO?
With a background in the editorial content creation, my work is focused on ideation, strategy and creative execution from brand to content to social. I currently work as a consultant for agencies and brands of all sizes - from startups to more established. Some of my clients include Schutz, Museum of Ice Cream, Badger & Winters, and Creative Media Marketing.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
My career happened organically. After graduating in Fashion Merchandising Management at F.I.T., I worked in many analytical roles with fashion companies that did not fulfill me. I, then, found a passion for trend forecasting and content creation, and started to intern for Fashion Snoops, which I continue working with when I moved back to Brazil. While in Brazil, I collaborated with many magazines, and worked full-time for a well-known digital title, Chic by Glorial Kalil. This inspired me to use my content and social expertise to help fashion brands establish themselves in the digital world. In 2016, I moved back to New York, and continue consulting for fashion and beauty companies, and started working with clients from other industries, such as beauty, wellness, home, and entertainment. Digital-first campaigns became a must have for brands because people are spending more time on the phones, even when watching TV. This fact has opened the doors for me to step into and learn more about the advertising world. I am a very curious person, and I am always looking to learn new things, improve my skills. Being an expert in social media and content is challenging because there is no secret formula for success, but understanding how editorial planning works has helped me to grow and establish my clients.
How do you stand out in your field?
I have a mix of versatile skills, and I am able to understand and executive many steps of a creative project - not just in content and social media. I am not the type of person who does only a specific job. As a self-started, autodidact who wear many hats for my clients, I work on the ideation and strategy to the creative execution. My work is also very visual, and I work closely with designers, photographers and videographers. Understanding each step of the creative process of marketing and branding efforts is crucial in today's fast-paces digital world. My ability to catch cultural trends also differentiates my work because I am always bringing relevant conversations and innovative ideas to the table. I love testing new things, and, for me, this is the greatest thing about social media.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I am about to launch my own creative agency, Magia, which will focus on purpose-driven brands, Magia means magic in Portuguese, and my goal is to help brands keep doing their magic, and bring positive impacts to people’s lives. I am also working on a personal project that will merge art, spirituality and wellness, and consulting for a trend forecaster and some DTC startups that will go to market very soon.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
Minimal, elegant and dreamy.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
I love being more hands-on, and I want to focus on Creative/Art Direction.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
I met a lot of people in NYC since I moved back, but I feel I still don’t know as many people as I know in Sao Paulo. this can be frustrating as most projects and clients come for referral. I also wish I could find a business partner who is a great account manager and sales person. I am a creative mind and I love turning ideas into stories and activations, but looking for clients demands a lot of my time sometimes.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Help them to organize my to-do and clients outreach. I also need support with graphic design.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
Sounds like a cliche, but everything ALWAYS works out for our best, and there is nothing to worry about. Worrying doesn't help in anything and only gives us grey hair. If things didn't happen as you expected, it is because it wasn't the right thing for you, and something greater will eventually come to your way. Taking action and doing uncomfortable things are also necessary to get where we want to get, and ideas are nothing until we start testing them. everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made. If you want a different result, make a different choice.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
How to create a healthy and balanced life when you want to create something. Also, I want to learn more about management skills - and outsource some of my work.
