WHAT DO YOU DO?
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
Although I have a degree in Fashion and Textile Design, my creative skills in my career are completely self-taught. After University I managed to land a Graphic Design job where I very much ‘learnt on the job’.
I worked my way through all areas of creative strategy and design, including print and web design, art direction, brand identity, content creation and campaign production and management.
Fast-forward to today and I now have over 12 years’ experience designing for e-commerce, luxury retail, music, lifestyle and corporate, and over 6 years’ experience in creative leadership.
How do you stand out in your field?
I am a data-loving, brand psychology nerd who thrives on solving tricky brand and campaign challenges, and am very much a commercial designer and creative lead. This means that who ever I work with, no matter which industry, brand or individual, I am able to create branding and concepts that really work for them and their audience; creating unique creative solutions that really pack a punch.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I am mainly working in high-end beauty and music industries currently, focussing on my Brand DNA Workshops and the creative outcomes from those. This year I plan on driving my creative studio, Creature Habit Co, forward more into these industries and spaces.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
My style varies drastically from client to client as I really aim to work with brands to understand their business and audience, helping them to deliver simple and strategic design and content solutions, and create consumer-focussed experiences. AKA creating beautiful designs, identities and strategies that really work.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
I am currently looking at working more within the fashion industry again and getting back to my roots. I am passionate about sustainable fashion and would love to work closer with clients who share this same ethos.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Social Media
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
A VA or Social Media Assistant.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
When I first attempted life as a Creative Freelancer/Consultant I would’ve told myself to believe in my talents and my purpose more and not undercharge for my services.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
How to grow a successful, dedicated and motivated team in a world with increasing disconnect.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
Any branding or re-branding project... but in particular I would love to work with a brand who is passionate about sustainability.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
I previously contracted for Universal Music where I worked with newly signed artists and musicians to help discover their brand and identity, and carve out a space for them in the market. I worked with the most incredibly talented individuals and just loved the different brand pathways developed for each of them. Developing identities and creative campaigns for brands vs individuals is quite different and it is something I absolutely LOVE doing!
Who is a creative that has helped you elevate your work?
They aren’t technically a creative, but marketing guru Mark Ritson really helped educate me and inspire me to learn more about brand DNA and brand psychology. He is a renowned marketing expert who works mainly in the luxury retail sector with brands such as Hermes and Verve Clicquot.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Drop me an email or reach out on Instagram first… then I love to jump on a call to really nut out how we can best work together.
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
Being in nature, live music, ocean swims, Yoga, and good wine and cheese all help!
