Q What do you do?
“I’m Claire!”
Over the last 8 years, I've been the brain and brawn behind a successful brand and web design studio www.thealchemyofdesign.co. Over the last 2 years I've been honing in on my 3D skills and have now created a side business purely focusing on 3D and bringing a touch of whimsy into the digital realm.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
After college where I earned two degrees Sociology & Film Studies and Graphic Design, I entered the design industry where I gained some hands-on experience. Feeling the need for independence, I decided to go out on my own start my own biz and now I collaborate with clients all over the globe. Always on the lookout for new creative outlets, I've discovered a passion for 3D design, a field where my creativity finds new dimensions to explore.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
The 3D world, I believe, has a very masculine aesthetic and I would like to bring more balance to the industry but creating imagery with softer palettes and content.
Q What are you working on right now?
I'm growing my 3D design business and finishing up a digital products website called The Orbital.
Q What’s your style?
Whimsy, soothing, colorful, natural world with pops of neon.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I would like to focus on 3D design.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
I would like more time just to create and for someone do do my marketing.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I would say getting my email list together and using its potential, creating campaigns etc
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Just start! It took me a long time to take the plunge and start but then it might not have been the right time. Mistakes are good.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
How to separate business from personal time and how to calve out more time to just create.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Book more 3D clients or book branding/web clients that are interested in using 3D for their brand aesthetic.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
Ideally to collaborate on campaigns where they need visuals and motion graphics for website and marketing materials. Good causes, environmental campaigns. Wellness brands.
Q What is your rate?
My day rate for static 3D images starts at €550. Motion graphics vary depending on the complexity of the project and rendering times.
