WHAT DO YOU DO?
I'm also the founder of Passerbuys, a recommendation website for women, that features profiles of the interesting women we see passing by. The website is built around their real recommendations for everything from beauty products and books to local coffee shops and salons. My mission is to build a community where women help one another — offering each other genuine advice, everyday tips, and reliable recommendations.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
I asked a lot of questions, emailed a lot of strangers and tackled my obstacles head-on.
FOR OTHER PEOPLE IN YOUR FIELD, WHAT DO THEY USUALLY LACK?
My advice I give to people struggling in our field: stay curious. The ability to admit that you may not understand a subject, but are willing to learn -- is your biggest asset.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I am currently working on a 3-day screening and talk series (Female Filmmakers Festival) celebrating accomplished female filmmakers and empowering women who want to break into the industry with Women & Film at The Downtown Independent on October 12-14th. We are hosting a series of panel conversations tackling issues that need more attention, in hopes to provide guidance, resources, and inspiration for women trying to break into the film industry. You can stay tuned for updates on fffest.org.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
My perspective on style is centered around reducing clutter and keeping things clean and straight forward. This allows the content to really pop and stay front and center. Philosophically I like minimalism because it enables a certain amount of personal messaging; not everything needs to be directed at an audience that is smart enough to fill in the blanks with their own imagination and perspective. Passerbuys.com would be the ultimate project that represented my style, I've done everything from coding, design to photography.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
Photography, if only for the reason that I get so much enjoyment from it.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
I don't really get bogged down in the frustrations. The work is never done, and finding time to be a person outside the work context can be a struggle.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
A graphic designer - I would have them beautify all my proposals, email marketing campaigns, marketing materials, the list is endless!
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
I would tell the 14 year-old me to relish youth because the real work is ahead.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
Business Development and Fundraising.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I'd like to help brands with their marketing strategy and creative direction - offering an all-inclusive package that involves everything from the initial marketing strategy to the actual content that will help execute it.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
A client that is open-minded and that trusts that my work's goal is to increase their brand awareness as well as drive sales to their services or products.
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
It really depends on the project, I like to offer a variety of optional deliverables at a specific rate, so a client has the flexibility of deciding what's most valuable in relation to their budget.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Say hi at clempoles@gmail.com and tell me a little bit about your project needs and budget, and let's connect!
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
By going to the movies!
