Q What do you do?

I am a voice practitioner in pursuit of authenticity, healing, inspiration and social change through both my work with clients and my personal creative work.

As an Embodied Voice Coach, I help emerging leaders at moments of transition step into confidence, poise and dynamic communication. Using foundational techniques taken from my acting and singing background, I work with breath, sensation and resonance to promote easeful and effective communication of big ideas. I believe that our world needs creative leaders equipped with the tools to navigate big emotions, discomfort and habit with grace and curiosity; I am here to provide that support.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

During the early pandemic, I realized that the artist training I received as an actor and a singer contained transformative tools for communication, leadership, and self-expression, and I wanted to share that with the world. After receiving my MFA in Acting, and with over a decade of classical singing training under my belt, I honed in on the essential communication tools I believe 21st-century leaders need to create lasting change and started sharing them with the world through workshops and 1:1 coaching. During this very organic process of personal discovery and mentorship, OnVoice Coaching & Consulting was born.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

Embodiment is at the center of my voice pedagogy: I believe that an embodied voice is a liberated, empowered, revolutionary voice. This can bring up challenges for people who are triggered by entering the body, and within in a society that actually encourages dis-embodiment. However, I have deep conviction that with trust developed over time, integrative practice, and a community of support, finding deep power within the body--and therefore, the voice--is possible. I bring a creative and playful approach to my work with clients: I am more interested in guiding you toward breakthroughs from your own lived experience than assuming the role of "authority" on public speaking or the voice. You are your own best teacher, my job is to help you realize and benefit from that.

Q What are you working on right now?

After over two years of mostly working with clients 1:1, I am building my first group online course, 'Foundations of Embodied Voice'. I am also in the middle of producing my debut EP, 'Nina', and working on improving my self-tape audition game!

Q What’s your style?

I live for integrity, talent and balance; give me demure + badass, light + dark, stability + flow. I am much more interested in honesty than coolness, but if you can be honest and cool at the same time--that's the sweet spot!! I am working on capturing some of this in the new music I'm working on currently. I think Sharon Van Etten's song 'Seventeen' captures what I'm talking about pretty well. So does Kate Winslet's performance in 'The Mare of Easttown".

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

Since the beginning of the pandemic, acting has taken a backseat to music projects and coaching, and sometimes I really miss the experience of being in a rehearsal room with other storytellers. If I had more hours in the day, I would probably devote more time to acting classes and theater projects, but in the meantime, I'm trying to approach each audition that comes my way with play and creativity!

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Being a multi-hyphenate has its high highs and low lows. Freelance work is inherently an ebb and flow game... it feels like everything is piling on at once, or you're in the middle of a dry spell. I know that as I grow my business(es), investing in more strategy and time management will be key to the growth I want to see.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Manage my social media, organize my inbox and Google Drive.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

You contain multitudes and you can literally do anything you want: consistency is key, talent is secondary.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Songwriting

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I'd love to create a program to promote healthy work culture in corporate/tech spaces. I'd also love to do executive presence coaching with high-net-worth, mission-driven leaders. On the creative end of the spectrum, I am looking for opportunities to have my music heard by more people, whether that means going on tour, having a song placed on TV or a movie, or being featured on a popular playlist. I am also interested in pursuing more voiceover work.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

As a coach: One-on-one 6-month embodied voice mentorship with a high net-worth, mission-driven CEO interested in doing transformational inner work in order to become a better communicator. As a musician: opening a European tour for Sharon Van Etten or Courtney Marie Andrews. As an actor: being involved in the original workshop cast of a Broadway-bound musical from a bold, young musical theater writer.

Q: What is your rate?

My hourly coaching rate generally ranges from $150-250, depending on the client and the scope of work. I am always willing to discuss rates and build out special programs for people who are passionate about working together.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

People can email me or visit my website to schedule a session directly. Let me know what you'd like to work on, questions you have for me, and something about your relationship to your voice!

Q Who is a creative you admire?

Liz Ibarra is a wonderful creative advisor, musician, and photographer that I really admire. She is actually the person who referred me to this site! Liz just has an essence of authenticity about her that is very magnetic. She has a background in business strategy and marketing and also has a beautiful aesthetic and visual taste. I love reading her monthly newsletters. Check her out if you need help with branding or business strategy for your creative business!

Eric Mendelsohn is an amazing songwriter, guitarist/bassist/singer, and guitar builder/repair person. He is deeply skilled at anything related to music and has many years of experience in both playing and fixing/modifying electric guitars. Also, he's just a super nice guy. Hit him up for all your gear repair and modification needs!

Kate Victor is one of the best singers I know, and a talented and dedicated multi-instrumentalist who regularly plays gigs with a number of artists in NYC, and also writes and performs her own original music! She is a music teacher who gives voice, piano, and guitar lessons and also works with teen bands on writing their own original music. She is an extremely gifted musician with a deep understanding of music theory and incredible musical taste. Hire her to compose music for your short film, teach you to sing, or play cello/bass/keys/guitar on your gig around town!

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Take showers, cook dinner, record voice memos, journal and dream!
