Q What do you do?

I created Picturesque Co. with the idea that we all have our own unique highlight reels, but we don’t always know how to frame them to showcase our best skills.

I work with professionals (from just graduating college to years into their careers) to navigate and package their personal brand so they can stand out in this unprecedented job market. I help with everything from resume design to interview preparation to everyday networking.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I started my career spending 10+ years in publishing and tech in the sales advertising space. I realized I have a passion for helping other connect and build their brands, so after I left my most recent role working as an Media & Entertainment Account Executive at Twitter, I decided I wanted to help others figure out their “superpowers” and use that to find their next role.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I really try to stay away from the corporate feeling of “click here and we’ll create your resume!” I also don’t consider myself a career coach. I want my clients to walk away from working with me with a built out personal brand and newfound confidence in telling their current employers or prospective employers why their experience and skills will be an asset to that role or company. I work directly with clients and make sure every resume, 30/60/90 plan, and conversation is tailored to helping them build their personal brand.

Q What are you working on right now?

Recently I’ve been really digging into what the job market is doing in this very unprecedented time coming off the back of a pandemic and now massive layoffs across industries. I’ve been helping a lot of graduating seniors and MBA students understand what they need to have prepared as they begin their search.

Q What’s your style?

My style is personal, warm, authentic. I hope clients can feel this through my site, but also just a simple conversation with me. There is enough stress around defining your strongest skills and then finding your “perfect career”... I like clients to walk away from working with me feeling less of that and more confident with how they talk about themselves.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

Time management is a balance for all of us... If I had to choose, I wish I had more time to focus on researching different industries and how each approaches their hiring process.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

I am a mom of 2 little girls, and finding the time…. In all things… can be a frustration. But I remind myself one task at a time, one day at a time.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Making all meals! While I enjoy cooking, sometimes it can be a burden to think about, prep, etc when I am focused on other tasks around my business and my girls.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Wish I could go back to college and tell myself that while I have the time…. Do something riskier! Start something myself. Be bold. Don’t worry so much about the details. Also, it always comes down to who you know. You'll never regret investing in your network.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

How the job market will shift over the next 10 years.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I’m looking to expand my clientele to anyone who is needing help with identifying their self brand. I'm also open to speaking engagements at colleges, companies, etc.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

Ideal Client: Someone ready to dive into what makes them tick, what do they excel at doing? Wanting to go the extra mile to make yourself stand out, is critical to success in finding a great career.

Ideal collaboration/job: Speaking to a group (students/young professionals) and answering their questions around resume preparation, interviewing, and networking. From there it is natural to usually work 1:1 together if they are ready to dive into their own self brand.

Q What is your rate?

Working with me can vary from something very simple (like a quick resume review) at $100, to doing a ground up self brand package (resume, 30/60/90, linkedin, networking) at $1200. I have a free 15 minute discovery call if you’re not confident in what you need.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Feel free to reach out to me directly at emily@picturesquecostudio.com or book time on my site www.picturesquecostudio.com
