Q What do you do?
I run The Lifestyle Lab, a digital organization studio. Give me a chaotic inbox or an overflowing desktop and I'll turn it into a digital dream space! ☁️✨
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I got into this style of anxiety management during lockdown when screen time spiked and communication boundaries took a hit.
At the time, I was hired by a writer for the Chicago Tribune to organize her Gmail. This was requested by her therapist because her email load was giving her severe anxiety.
I started studying digital anxiety and how information-heavy spaces like inboxes can effect the nervous system. I then dove into learning advanced features in Gmail so I could modify her inbox's function and visuals.
I was curious to see if other entrepreneurs would be interested in this. I ran an ad in the ilovecreatives newsletter and got 16 new clients that same day.
Since then, I've personally organized the inbox of over 60 creatives. In doing that, I saw a need for skills that hadn't been taught in school, including digital organization.
So I turned my inbox knowledge into an online class so more people could have access to this style of anxiety management.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I don’t just organize. Ppl hire me because I turn their digital spaces into little digital dream worlds! ✨
I understand the anxiety that creative brains feel in information-heavy spaces, so I design those spaces to be as playful as they are functional!
I also understand the reality of what goes on in these spaces so I create a system that makes sense for the everyday life of the creative I’m designing it for.
Q What are you working on right now?
I've already turned my inbox organization system into a class, and now I'm working on turning a few more of my services into evergreen classes and workshops.
I'm gonna make this style of anxiety management as accessible as possible! ✨
Q What’s your style?
Barbie’s digital dream world! ✨
Vibrant colors and playful designs. No grey, overloaded screens here!
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Talking! (If that’s considered a slashy skill)
I love being in front of people having real conversations either as a guest speaker or on podcasts.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
During covid, a lot of creatives were focusing on their mental health. I've been seeing that die down quite a bit since, and it's frustrating to see us heading back to a bit of hustle culture.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Someone to make my meals – I get lost in work sometimes and this would make my life so much easier!
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Wish I would have spent my college time/money on creative workshops, that way I would have gained loads of slashie skills and understood a bit earlier on what I love doing.
But my path lead me here and I'm very happy with that!
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I love having conversations with creative ppl and just hear about their lives. How they live, how they work, what motivates them.
My girlhood self dreamed of being in touch with ppl like that. Back then, the only creatives we saw were famous ones, but look at us now – we’re everywhere!
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I’m looking to spread the word that this type of service is available. I have a lot of clients with ADHD or anxiety who would have loved to know earlier about my services.
I also want to connect with creatives just for fun! ⇣
Send me a voice msg – it’s the digital equivalent to the iconic playground "Hi, do you wanna be my friend!"
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I love it when a creator with a really bold, unique style comes to me with an organization project. It drives me because I get to turn their stressful environment into a place that matches their playful style. How wild is that!
I also love when someone brings me something I haven't done yet. Like, "Organize my Google Maps favorites" or "Make a playbook for when my dog gets babysat".
Q What is your rate?
My 1-1 weekly organization sessions are 400$/ month which includes four 1h sessions and your own digital workbook! 📓
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Send me an email at jesabel@thelifestylelab.co or DM me on Instagram! (Remember, I'm a sucker for voice messages 😏)
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Oh, Sophia Roe! She's a chef who brings creative to a whole new level. She's welfare-informed and working to educate ppl about things like food deserts, all the while enjoying her craft and creating a bold personal brand around it.
The best creatives are the ones who can inspire you even though you don't have an interest in their particular craft. I admire her not bc she’s a good chef but because of how she took her art, made it her own and managed to infuse it in a social mission.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Getting out in the real world. No online scrolling sesh is worth more than a 1h conversation with ur best friend.
