Julia Khatemi
Q What do you do?
More specifically, I help brands find their voice. Then I head to a Lagree studio to help clients find their slooow 4 count.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
What started with dear diaries and Gelly Roll filled journals transformed into a full-blown career. Saying yes to everything that came my way built my resume, while my online shopping and cappuccino habit kept me going.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
From fashion retail to B2C and B2B tech to healthcare, there's not an industry I won't dabble in.
Q What are you working on right now?
Aligning my work with my values. Turning my partner into a morning person.
Q What’s your style?
Someone once tweeted that my writing was like sitting down with your BFF over a glass of rosé. I don't drink rosé, but I do bring that extra wink.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I already live in the health and wellness space, but have yet to breathe—or write about—it.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
Unpopular opinion: I miss working with people IRL! I yearn for the buzzy office and creative sparks when people come together.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Honestly? My own hype girl. Sometimes all you need is that extra motivation.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
These 3 words: "Why not me?"
At the start of my career, I used to come up with so. many. reasons as to why I wouldn't be good enough for an opportunity. Negative self-talk is so powerful and limiting. Once I let that go and held on to those 3 words, I tried (and succeeded at!) things I wouldn't have 10 years ago. Because seriously, why not me?
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Someone with the secret to sitting still.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Full-time gigs. Freelance gigs. Gigs that align with my values.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I'd love nothing more than to help a wellness-oriented brand find their voice, then champion it through every type of medium.
Q What is your rate?
Average rate depends on the project—but I love a good chat so let's talk about it.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Shoot me an email! jtkhatemi@gmail.com
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Lili Tawil. She's the most bada$$ designer I know.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Staying curious. At all times.
