Katie Marble
WHAT DO YOU DO?
I partner with brands to create evergreen/promotional social content. I have worked in social for the last 7 years and am able to understand what kinds of images will perform best on specific platforms, allowing me to tailor my work to maximize your reach. My work ranges from cosmetic/food&beverage/apparel/event/on-set BTS/red carpet coverage. I also do production design/styling for social videos. Anywhere from full indoor/outdoor creations on a white cyc to simple/impactful art that supports a top-down "tasty" style video.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
As I look back on my experiences, I have always taken advantage of opportunities when they arise and not shied away from a challenge. Pursuing my passion has meant personal sacrifice at times, but the reward has always made up for it.
How do you stand out in your field?
I am very organized in every aspect of my work and have really created a groove of productivity for myself. I love to dive into a project and be completely immersed by it and all it's subtleties. The challenge of a production day is exciting and I love when everyone's ideas can be showcased in what we create. I would say one of my strengths is that I don't have a dominating "style" to my work and that I am able to adapt to the look and feel of a client/project.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
Right now I've been juggling several different productions, as well as making lots of time for fall crafts with my 3 year old son.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
My style is clean, fluid, and interesting. My goal in everything I do create a scene where you are naturally drawn in and the eyes can linger. Included are links to several personal projects: https://thehappyhunters.pixieset.com/downtownpalmsprings081519/
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
Photography is my first love and my main passion, but entering the world of production design over the last year and a half has been a great excise and muscle to flex. I've learned so much and found that I really enjoy it.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Time for the little things. Cleaning and reorganizing my art closet. Cleaning out and reorganizing old hard-drives. I would love to have someone come in and help me tweak a million little things in my professional life that would make my day-to-day so much smoother.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Paperwork, receipts, contracts. I'd also have them help me keep my website updated more often.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
I wish I could have believed more in my own ability. Often I thought I was faking it til I made it or that my perspective didn't mean much. I have learned to have pride in my abilities and to speak up because everyone has something to contribute.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
I would love to continue to expand my knowledge of different studio lighting techniques.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I would love to work with local brands, especially in vintage apparel.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
I would love to have consistent production dates and create social content for the following month/weeks.
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
My starting day rate is $350. I also own all my own camera/lighting equipment.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Email! Once a connection has been established, I love setting up meetings and phone calls to get to know the team. I prefer emails to be very clear about needs, deliverables, dates, and rates.
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
Nature, me-time, TRYING, being openminded.
