Q What do you do?
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
When in University, I had a medical issue that required me to stay home for long periods of time. I decided to take a Harvard University Bootcamp to learn how to code and never looked back!
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I stand out by focusing all of my work solely on blog style websites. I view website design and development as an artwork - something to be admired and loved. Each site is an online home to my client, and focusing on blog style website allows me to make my sites highly unique.
Q What are you working on right now?
I just wrapped up a site design for Sophia Bush, and am now currently working on multiple blogs for influencers like Claudia Graziano, Je Suis Lou, and more.
Q What’s your style?
I am constantly trying to build and/or design something that I've never seen before. My work tends to look elegant, yet playful - always bringing in lots of simple animations and interactions to keep visitors entertained. My ultimate goal with each site project is to create an online space that people love to spend time in - almost like that funky downtown coffee shop that everyone loves to just sit in. But the online version, obviously.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I wish I could focus more of my work in development and animations, but once my work started to grow and I started taking on more clientele, I understood the necessity of outsourcing. Every so often I have time to take on development and absolutely love it when I can, but for the most part, my work is focused mostly on the design aspect.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
I think the absolute worst part of my job is admin work. I absolutely hate sending out/editing contracts, chasing invoices, etc.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Definitely a Virtual Assistant! Still in the process of finding one I like.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
JUST FREAKIN START. I spent a lot of time "getting things ready" before taking on clients, launching my agency, etc. I've learned that even when you start something, that doesn't mean clients are going to start flooding in! Plus, I don't think you'll ever be able to get things right in the beginning. It's constant trial and error - so it makes more sense to just get started and adjust as you're going.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Definitely scaling. I feel like I'm in an awkward stage of "I have too many things to do" and "I don't trust anyone to do my work for me."
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Big influencers, with the need for MULTIPLE services - web design, social media, etc. I love being able to work with influencers consistently, for long periods of time by offering multiple services through my agency.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My favorite projects are the ones where clients really let me step out of the box and go wild with creativity. Not only do I get to create something super cool with my team, but also get to know my client really well and make a friend out of them! So many of my clients have turned into people that I talk to on a regular basis and that has been extremely rewarding.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Schedule a virtual coffee chat! I ALWAYS hop on a virtual call before taking on a client so we can get to know each other and really get a feel for the project / if we would be a good fit.
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Ashly Brook! She really helped me step out of my shell when I first got started in freelance / starting my own business.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Baths and Sleep! My creativity can't be forced!
