Q What do you do?

I conceptualize, shoot, and edit videos for brands

I shoot a lot of film too, namely super 8 and 16mm! I started creating content on the internet over a decade ago and turned it into a full-time job :-)

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

A lot of learning by doing. I’m a do-er, and I enjoy diving right into a new project or learning a new editing program or fiddling around with a bunch of different cameras… I’ve always been eager to learn and the best way I know how is to jump right in and play around until I figure out what works for me. So what I’m trying to say is - A LOT of experimenting!

Q How do you stand out in your field?

My work is very sincere and whimsical. I started experimenting with shooting film over 5 years ago and made a few short films. That eventually led to working with a number of cinematographers, brands, musicians… I’ve even had a few people reach out asking me to shoot their wedding (we love love!). I take a lot of inspiration from old films and I love reinterpreting them in my own work, which is why I think people are so drawn to it.

Q What are you working on right now?

Currently working on a few small projects for brands and spending more time focusing on my ceramics (I was just featured in Bon Appétit Magazine!) 🎂

Q What’s your style?

I think my style is very specific — it’s playful, whimsical, yet sincere in the sense that I care a lot about portraying women in an honest way, animal rights, sustainability, queer representation, etc. When I first started making short films I drew a lot of inspiration from French Cinema (and still do!)

Here’s a 16mm short I made a few years ago for MAKE Beauty: Watch Here

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I want to focus more on the film side of things, being behind the camera more, working on larger sets, collaborating with other creatives and independent filmmakers! :-)

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Right now I’m finding it difficult being in front of the camera, in fact I’ve felt that way for a while now. I’m trying to figure out how to pivot and work for brands in a more collaborative way that allows me to shoot and edit with a larger team :-)

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Oh boy! What I would give for someone to just send out all my emails and plan out my days for me…

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

Unrelated to filmmaking I would love to talk to a mycologist about all the cool things mushrooms can do and how to make sustainable, biodegradable packaging from them.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I’m looking to shoot more intricate short-form content for brands/businesses. Brands who want something quirky or whimsical, or who want to make short films to showcase their products. I’ve been creating lifestyle content for so long I think I would be a great asset when it comes to branding, designing, shooting/editing.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I love working with brand/clients who give me complete creative control! I worked with Adidas last year on a fun campaign where I was asked to create a 30second video for their new running shoe. I created a storyboard for them, asked a cinematographer friend of mine to shoot it, and had another friend of mine score it :-) I love being able to use all of my resources to create something special!

Here’s the video!

Q What is your rate?

My rates are dependent on a number of factors including the scope of work, if it’s shot on film, digital, etc. I’ve made videos anywhere from $3,00-$15,000. My starting rate for a video is normally around $7,500 - but keep in mind most of this content lives on my channel (utilizing my audience), I’m conceptualizing, directing, shooting, editing, doing animations and graphic deign… So it all sort of depends on the scope of work. However, I’m open to working with those who might not have a huge budget but share the same ethos :-)

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Drop me a line anytime, preferably with a Snoopy attachment heheh
Email me at lamadelynn@gmail.com - I can’t wait to work together!

Q Who is a creative you admire?

Rendiel Del Rosario who is an incredible ceramicist that I adore and draw a lot of inspiration from.
