WHAT DO YOU DO?
“I’m an award-winning industrial designer, artist, photographer and design engineer, currently living in Barcelona, Spain. ”
I love creation and I dedicated my life to pursuing my passion for logic, creativity and emotion. I offer professional creative services in the above-mentioned fields and also sell my paintings through my recently launched e-commerce site.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
I loved creation since I was a kid. Driven by intense imagination, I was creating my own worlds, inventing new words, asking big questions about life, building and engineering adult technical legos, etc. This passion has always been with me. Through my late teens and early 20s, when my career as a creator started, I was freelancing in various fields like internet marketing, web design, graphic design, photography, interior design and the likes. Then in my late 20s, after moving to Barcelona from Prague, I set up my own studio called Miroslavo, named after my professional name, under which I offer professional creative services.
How do you stand out in your field?
I’m an emerging creative, so it’s difficult to answer that as my place in the world is yet to be solidified. But what I can say is that my clients hire me—based on what they told me—because of my natural gift for aesthetics and invention.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
Earlier this year, we finished a window blind for an innovator in window shading. I designed the aesthetics for the product and it will be launching later this year in 30 countries.
Now, I already have two new long-term product development projects underway. I’m designing and engineering products in the fields of fashion bracelets as well as human-powered vehicles for two start-ups.
I also accept web and graphic design work that comes my way, since that is something that I started my career with so it holds a special place in my heart. I’m currently developing 3 new websites for a real estate, bakery and shopping centre project.
In addition to that, I’m always working on the creation of new artwork, designs, photographs, content for my Instagram and posts for my blog.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
I always try to integrate all relevant knowledge in every creation, to find the perfect harmony between logic, emotion and creativity. All of my projects reflect the fundamentals I employ regardless of the field.

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Progressing in one of my product development projects where lack of open and efficient communication between me and the client is currently our biggest weakness. It can get a little frustrating since at times we don't understand each other's ideas quickly enough and it's slowing our progress. We should be able to improve this though since we had only just begun.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Cooking.

I find it unproductive to think that way. Like they say, after a war is finished, everybody is a general.
I always made the best decision I could at the time with the knowledge I had at hand even if it led to big mistakes. The past makes who I am in the present.

Art techniques, research, product engineering and manufacturing.

The ones that spark my passions, specifically creating art as well as developing new innovative products.

Above all, I value professionalism, honesty, open communication, integrity and good business ethics, so my ideal client is the one who shares those values.
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
It depends on many factors, but I use my hourly rate of €30/hr as one of the factors to determine pricing.
