WHAT DO YOU DO?
So often, people can get "lost" in trying to find out what their business is, and they lose sight of the big picture. My job is to help people display their products, talents, styles, etc, onto the world stage (aka the Internet) in the most beautiful way possible.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
Honestly, it's kind of a confusing beginning. I was desperately searching for a job in my area right after college with no avail, so decided to pick up freelancing to tie me over. It took off and I have had a constant inflow of clients ever since, knock on wood!
HOW DO YOU STAND OUT IN YOUR FIELD?
I create designs that are traditional and editorial. I love to look at old world magazines, newspapers, handwritten letters and use those as inspiration for designs. I think a lot of people crave that 'down to earth' feeling - and feel sometimes overwhelmed with design options. So I find it's best to stick to traditional methods of design that have been used for centuries.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I am working on an exclusive lookbook for a proposal to do a trunk show for a fine jewelry collector with Moda Operandi, as well as multiple website projects for fashion & interior designers. I am also working with email campaigns, which are my strong suit.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
My style is refined and classic. I like things to be minimal and editorial. Working with Tiina Smith Jewelry has allowed me to utilize this preference of style, since most of her jewelry is antique and collectible. This is what I LOVE about working with her, creatively. I am able to translate that love of classic artistry into designs that match the beautiful jewels she collects and resells.
WE ALL HAVE MULTIPLE SKILLS OR WORK IN VARIOUS INDUSTRIES, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD FOCUS ON MORE?
I really enjoy working on email campaigns and designing email campaigns.
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
Getting my business organized and flowing for itself so I don't have to manage everything!
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Project management, scheduling, and emailing.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
I wish I could have told my teenage self that it's not all hopeless! You won't have to work a boring office job! HA!
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
I would love to work with a printing company to learn what all goes into printing content and the various forms of printing. I think it's absolutely fascinating.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I am looking for opportunities with fellow creatives (i.e., interior designers, fashion designers, architects, artists, etc...)
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
My ideal client is female, age 20-40, loves designer things and has a large budget.
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
I typically charge $75/hour.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
I approach all things with kindness and humor. I typically am approached by my clients first, so I don't have much experience in reaching out to them directly (i.e., cold calling/emails)
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
Go out on a drive!
