Yury Gasparov
Exhibition Designer / Creative Director
Los Angeles, CA / Remote
Q What do you do?
Over the past 15 years, I’ve honed my craft in the creative industry, developing a deep knowledge of exhibition design and immersive storytelling. I’ve collaborated with both cultural institutions and corporate brands, breathing life into interactive installations, immersive experiences, and playful experiments for museums, galleries, and organizations around the globe. Currently, I work as a freelance exhibition designer and creative director, blending cutting-edge tech with imaginative concepts to spark curiosity and wonder in people.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
From the very beginning, I found myself drawn to the broad spectrum of creative work—design, branding, web development, photography, you name it. My natural curiosity led me to explore each new challenge, which meant juggling multiple roles and picking up a diverse skill set. Over time, I took that hands-on approach into running several of my own creative ventures, where I learned firsthand how to merge art, technology, and strategic thinking.
That foundation paved the way for me to join top studios specializing in exhibition and museum design. Collaborating with cultural institutions and major brands allowed me to refine my storytelling techniques and master the logistics of large-scale, immersive projects. Through it all, I’ve kept experimenting - testing new platforms, integrating emerging tech, and pushing the boundaries of what an exhibit or experience can be
Q How do you stand out in your field?
Honestly, I just really love what I do, and I think that excitement shows in every project. I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients so I can create stuff that truly fits their vision- whether it’s a big museum installation or a fun exhibition booth. I’m always looking for ways to make things feel fresh and memorable, and I’ll dive deep into whatever it takes to get there, from learning new tech to keeping up with the latest cultural trends. Plus, I work fast and make sure everyone’s happy with the end result. At the end of the day, I’m all about delivering something special that both my clients and their audiences can really connect with.
Q What are you working on right now?
I just finished designing an interactive spatial setup for an event, which was a really rewarding project
Q What’s your style?
I focus on creating meaning instead of just making things look pretty. Storytelling is at the core of my work, and I love building immersive experiences that connect with people on a deeper level
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I’d love to spend more time on creative direction—coming up with big ideas and turning them into real spaces, whether that’s in 3D or 2D. There’s something so satisfying about taking a concept and watching it materialize into an actual environment
Q What is frustrating you right now?
Earning a new client’s trust can be challenging. It takes time, patience, and a lot of communication to show I’m invested in their vision. But when that trust finally clicks, it’s totally worth it because it leads to stronger collaborations and better creative outcomes.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Graphic design
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
more AI tools
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I’d love to learn more about different brainstorming methods, how they stay inspired, and how they refine a rough idea into a polished final product.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I’m on the lookout for opportunities in exhibition and museum design, as well as any spatial projects where storytelling is front and center. That could mean creating immersive corporate spaces, designing interactive installations, or anything else that blends creativity with a meaningful narrative.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My ideal collaboration is with someone who values the power of iteration. We’ll bounce ideas around, refine them, and keep testing until we find the best solution. Whether it’s an immersive museum installation or a brand-new exhibition, I love working with people who aren’t afraid to pivot and explore new directions to create a meaningful, engaging experience.
Q: What is your rate?
My rates can vary depending on the project’s scope, but I generally charge between $40–$60 per hour. I also offer project-based packages for larger or more complex work.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Q Who is a creative you admire?
I’d definitely recommend checking out Pangenerator. Their work strikes an incredible balance between art, design, and technology, resulting in meaningful, interactive installations that really make you think. They’re masters at creating experiences that engage people in surprising ways
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Always learning!
