Edible LA is looking for an Intern

Edible LA

is looking for an Intern

Los Angeles, CA

Edible LA is looking for a talented and multifaceted intern to help us grow into the LA food hub this city deserves.

A quarterly James Beard Award-winning publication that focuses on the LA Food scene, we are independent publishers who are also part of the Edible Communities network of over 90 local food pubs across America.

Our ethos is sustainable, local, organic, but also artisanal, chef-ie, and obsessed with the flavors and stories that make up everything that goes onto your plate. Our Edible Explorer column also showcases international culinary journeys.

We have exciting 2022 plans--podcast, supper club + farm-to-table events. With this expansion comes a new wave of print advertising and a Digital Partnership program featuring a branded content approach to digital feature stories, email campaigns, website ads and social media campaigns.

We’re limiting internships, so we can provide the best possible hands-on experience and training. This job is remote, though local to LA with occasional in-person meetings. We welcome slashies and hybrids. Here are the skills we need.

  • Graphic design for decks, print, website. InDesign, Wordpress, Squarespace.

  • Journalist for digital and print assignments.

  • Social media marketing whiz for reels, to oversee flow of traffic, to do SM.

Who are you?

Passionate about food, you love everything ooey gooey, sweet and spicy, adventurous, flavorsome. You dig the whole scene of people who make food and think about food and breathe food every single minute of every day.

What do you get out of this?

  • Portfolio portfolio portfolio. You already know it’s not easy to get well published. We can offer that.

  • Serious perks. Lots of cool invites to events, a deeper understanding of the food scene in LA, and a grounding in everyone who’s making it move and shake. You’ll also have the serious joy of bringing in great stories and seeing them come to life.

  • Pay. One month mutual try-out period during which you’ll work part time (no more than three full remote days a week) and then—if we work well together—sky is the limit. Okay, maybe not that, but at least you’ll get paid.

Application

  1. Bio — who you are, what makes you tick and why do you want to work at Edible LA?

  2. Portfolio — include only your best work. We value variety and will give preference to those that can excel in multiple disciplines.
