Venice Community Housing Seeks a Web Designer

Venice Community Housing

Seeks a Web Designer

Los Angeles, CA

Venice Community Housing (VCH) supports and builds equitable and inclusive communities by providing affordable housing with supportive services, education, employment programs, and public policy advocacy that advances racial and economic justice.

VCH is seeking a web designer to refresh, streamline, and modernize its website to attract new donors, supporters, and volunteers, with an emphasis on engaging people between the ages of 25-45. We are a mission driven organization, looking to work with a designer who cares about challenging housing injustice and creating equitable communities with affordable homes for all.

The Challenge

  • VCH’s website is overcrowded and busy. We are looking to simplify the look and feel, to make it easier to navigate and donate online.

  • When you land on vchcorp.org it’s hard to know where to click first or where to find what you need.

  • We are seeking design assistance to attract audiences across all age ranges, with a focus on increasing attention from younger audiences.

The Ask

  • Collaborate with VCH staff on site architecture and minimize the amount of drop down pages, and simplify the user experience.

  • Create a more professional and sophisticated look for the site.

  • Work with a web developer to implement design changes.

  • Create 4-6 new WordPress template pages that are designed more appropriately for the content.

  • VCH is not looking for assistance with new content. We are looking to redesign the current site with content editing and creation done in-house. We want to incorporate current information so that users can easily understand our organization without feeling overwhelmed by the website structure and clutter.

  • We are open to overhauling the look and feel of the site. Logos and overall branding will remain the same.

  • We are looking to create distinct pages for both top and sub level categories.

Qualifications

  • Provide link to online portfolio or minimum of 3 live sites of past work.

  • Prior WordPress experience preferred.

  • Ability to work with a web developer

  • Prior nonprofit experience is a plus.

  • Ability to collaborate extensively with VCH’s Development and Communications team, who will provide guidance on the content and website priorities.

  • Remote work ok – designer does not have to be in Los Angeles.

  • Must complete Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion vendor survey in order to be considered:
