I started to fall in love with coding after taking the Squarespace Design Course and was so hungry to learn more. I have a background in retail, fashion, and e-commerce fulfillment so I thought it made a lot of sense to follow that trajectory up with the Shopify Course.
I learned I can't be everything - and THAT'S OK! Being both a designer and developer is a ton of work. I was in awe of how these designs were made up, unsure of how to come up with them on my own. I began to really enjoy the development more and I realized that I should listen and lean in to how that feels.
I have tried many courses before and they can be a snooze with the length of the videos, delivery, and tone. This course was divided into digestible pieces that made this easy to refer back to when I needed to be reminded of something while infused with Megumi's fun personality which kept me up and energetic to follow along.
My advice would be to follow along with the workbook and favorite the lessons that you refer back to the most! I often go back to the workbook to reuse code.
The first client I took on after the course was a queer small business brand that I won dress giveaways from. I always felt bad because these dresses are stunning and not cheap - but now I've been able to pay them back and support them with my new skills!
