Audrey Tappan
Q What do you do?
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
Being flexible and explorative has been really helpful in allowing me to do what I love for a living. To this day I'm not only a photographer but a graphic designer, an animator, a partnership coordinator, and the occasional consultant. I'd get bored doing one thing all of the time and when it's low season for photography I can still work from home doing graphic design or some other project that comes my way.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I like to have fun and laugh. Color is my favorite color, the brighter the better.
Q What are you working on right now?
I've recently been focusing on product photography and upping my animation skills. Between shoots I spend a lot of time networking and connecting with creative directors and brands who needs new visuals.
Q What’s your style?
I love product photos that pop and have a life of their own. I love a crisp light and saturated colors.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I'd love to incorporate animation into more of my photos.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
The algorithm.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I'd love to have someone do outreach for new projects.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Last year I wish I knew that the people I wanted to connect with were so easy to reach. It's amazing how far one email can take you!
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I'd love to sit down with an After Effects expert and just watch them edit. I get really inspired by other people's art because not only is the end result beautiful but I love seeing the methods they use to get there. It helps me think outside of the box.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Product photography and small graphic design jobs.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My ideal client is looking to embrace color in their brand visuals and have some fun.
Q What is your rate?
I price all of my projects independently but for a general guide...
Photography Day Rate $3500
Graphic designs are $50/hour with a 2-hour minimum
