Diane Lee
Q What do you do?
I am also a full time college student studying Film and Media, and currently looking for opportunities to expand my creative network.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I have always been a creative person since I was young. I attended an art school where I had intensive training in musical theater, graphic design, writing, production, and many more. When I moved to college, I knew I had to nurture my creative side even more so I turned to music and graphic design, which has enabled me to hone on my art skills.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I aim to get as much art out there as possible. In terms of music, my original songs and arrangements are released on all streaming platforms. With graphic design, I launched my first greeting card business earlier in March. I really try to make as much art as possible and put it out for others to see!
Q What are you working on right now?
As of current, I am working specifically on reaching out to film and other creative companies since I will be graduating with a Film degree and possibly a minor in Entrepreneurship in December. I am networking with others on LinkedIn, applying to as many internships as possible, and laying out my future.
Q What’s your style?
I have a really good eye for aesthetics, colors, and all things visual. I love making things look pretty, buying things that look nice, and love to establish a certain look for myself through fashion. I tend to love bold, solid colors on me, such as plain black, white, or even a bright pink. Also, I am a huge fan of A24 movies and Wes Anderson's films.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Music industry
Q What is frustrating you right now?
As a soon to be college grad, I am most frustrated about landing a good job soon after graduation, but more specifically I am so stressed about not having my talents and potential recognized by other creatives in the industry.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I would probably have them type up a really amazing cover letter or multiple cover letters for me to send to companies.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
I feel like I spent most of my time worrying, ever since I was a child due to the immense cultural pressure put on me. Even today, I am worrying and I wish I told my younger self, maybe like my 15 year old self that I didn't have to be so worried about school, homework, college, all that stuff.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I would love to talk to a musical theater orchestrator like Alan Menken or Alex Lacamoire and gain insight on how to be successful music composers in the industry and Disney more specifically.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I would really love to help people who are looking to build a simple website, get business cards, or people who need help with copywriting. I am very passionate about getting to know someone's vision and turning that into physical format. In terms of music, I am really wanting to get to know the industry better and gain hands on experience behind the business, production, and artist management.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I would love to collaborate with a big magazine company like Vogue or Cosmopolitan and be in charge of the photography, design, and editing process.
Q What is your rate?
I find that a lot of people tend to overcharge for web design services or any other graphic design projects. I am willing to set my rates as low as possible with additional charges for faster turnout times and such. At the end, I aim to deliver a product that you are happy about.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
itsdianelee@gmail.com- I would love to provide a brief detail of myself, what I am passionate about, and a friendly GIF :)
Q Who is a creative you admire?
@abyb3rg3r on instagram. She is a photographer and has a very specific vision of capturing humans.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
music, reading, poetry, movies...
