WHAT DO YOU DO?
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
In short, whatever step felt right but also slightly terrifying.
In length, I went to school to ride horses until I switched my major to Creative Advertising having no idea what that was. I moved to NYC after graduation to be a copywriter. I worked at large agencies, small agencies, on global brands and local brands. I then moved to Los Angeles to work in Cannabis, while simultaneously creating my own company.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I’m working as Creative Director at a Cannabis company in addition to starting my own company dedicated to celebrating horse girls. Two very different worlds.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
I really appreciate things that feel familiar but push you to see it in a way you haven’t before. My instagram is probably the best representation of my personal evolution of tastes.
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
Art! I absolutely love working with charcoal because it can be such a forgiving medium while also having the ability to get really detailed. I find it so liberating.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
An assistant who wants to be a creative—eager to learn and helps me with my day-to-day. Or a personal stylist, because HOW FUN.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
Currently, the environment, climate change, sustainability, composting—all that.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I’m less looking for specific projects and more for specific people. I think if you put smart, creative and compassionate people in a room you make good work.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
I guess I did in the previous question!
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
I hate to leave you hanging here, but it depends on the scope of the work! In the past I have charged $100 an hour, but I prefer to do things by the project. Let’s chat about what kind of budget you’re working with and I’ll let you know what I can make work.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
Email me at emmiestrommen@gmail.com Stoked to hear from you!
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
By being incredibly curious.
