Q What do you do?

Hi, I’m a mutli-disclipinary designer and artist.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

It started with my high school newspaper. After entering college convinced I was going to pursue pre-med, I found myself thriving in design courses where I could explore the intersection of art and technology.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I think a big part of what makes me stand out is my analytic background and how it inspires my work as well as my interactions with clients. Everything I create is an extension of places I've been and the various cultures I'm inspired by.

Q What are you working on right now?

Right now, I'm working branding and web design

Q What’s your style?

I started my design journey with print and I think I will always find my way to print in one way or another. I always feel comfortable in publication/editorial design. The physical aspect is gratifying. On my website I have a small archive of screen prints and riso-graph prints that I've been inspired to make. In the future I hope to explore textiles and fiber art as part of my practice.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I'm trying to dive deep into improving my Motion Design skills at the moment.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Diving into a niche. It's always been a part of my process to explore new mediums, but I'm at a point where I have a few directions I want to focus on.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Probably proofread my emails.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I wish I had told myself earlier that I was allowed to be creative. For a long time I focused on what I couldn't do.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Branding, editorial, and layout design are my bread and butter.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

As someone from who grew up around Portland, my ideal collaboration right now would be Amine, for sure.

Q What is your rate?

A full branding project would be around $2000, motion graphics included will increase that number.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

alkayedfarah@gmail.com

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Go outside!!!
