WHAT DO YOU DO?
I help brands develop a social media presence, both on existing and new social platforms, by creating a cohesive, integrated digital strategy. This includes but is not limited to: content creation, influencer marketing, social strategy, CRM, and promotional strategy. I am a passionate leader with a track record of successful digital campaigns that drive results, whether that be follower growth, engagement, sales or brand building.
WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
While I have always been in the social media/ digital marketing field, I have moved throughout a variety of industries including fashion, beauty, lifestyle, food and most recently, activewear. I pride myself on being able to apply my social media skill set to different brands with different personalities. Adaptability is key in this field! I started my career at Parsons The School of Design where I received a BBA. After school (back when social media was still a glimmer in the Marketing eye), I got promoted to be the Social Media Manager at Betsey Johnson, something I was managing day to day during my time as an intern there. After gaining experience at such a well-known brand in the fashion industry, I joined the team at Bollare Communications, a bi-coastal digital marketing agency where I learned a variety of soft skills as it pertains to client management while also flexing my social media and influencer marketing muscles. Bollare is where I gained the majority of my influencer relationships in the beauty/ fashion industry. Whole Foods Market was not a natural next step, as I had mainly been working in the fashion/ beauty realm; however, it was a welcome one! Food and sustainability have always been a passion of mine and as the Digital Marketing Associate Director at Whole Foods, I was able to do a ton of digital story telling that in turn helped build awareness for our local suppliers and creative a positive momentum for the business.
How do you stand out in your field?
In the social media realm, it's easy to get caught up and lose sight of yourself. I stand out by being true to who I am, building my own personal brand and letting that show future employers the kind of person I am.
WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?
I am working on several freelance/ consulting projects in the food/ beverage space as it relates to social strategy & influencer marketing.
WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?
My Instagram gives a great perspective into my style! --> https://www.instagram.com/jenniferheal/
WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?
I wish I could focus more on my own personal brand building. I think this is a great way to not only meet like-minded people in the industry, but also, get presented with interesting opportunities to help businesses thrive on social!
WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?
I am in the process of creating a website right now. While it's not the most frustrating thing in life (sites like Square Space and Wix make it super easy), it's just something that always seems to fall to the bottom of my list.
IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?
Help me create my website and provide tips on SEO to get more consulting leads.
LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?
I recently had a poor job experience. The day-to-day was difficult as I was challenged with poor leadership and constantly changing goals. I wish I could tell myself that things will get better and that life only gives you as much as you can handle. Ultimately, I am grateful for the experience as I learned valuable lessons about leadership and process. Furthermore, it brought me to where I am today and led me to new exciting opportunities.
IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
I would love to learn more from a digital analyst. While I understand the basics of analytics as it relates to social, paid media etc., I find the more in-depth knowledge fascinating and super helpful for creating more strategic campaigns.
WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?
I am looking for freelance/ consulting work as it relates to Social Media Strategy, Influencer Marketing Strategy or Social Media Content Creation.
DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.
Recently I worked with an ice cream brand to do a deep dive into their current social media and develop an evergreen integrated social media strategy (including social style, tone of voice, influencer networking, content brand book, promotional strategy on social and more). It was not only valuable for the client, but also gave me the background needed to take on more projects from them - whether that be influencer strategy for specific launches, or even content creation. I like working with clients on these types of larger, broad strategy and then developing longer term relationships to help them with more micro launches as applicable.
WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?
I typically charge $200/ hour for strategy development; however, most of my work is based on projects or monthly retainers.
HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?
A client should approach me with an idea of their goals and why they are interested in working with me specifically. From there, I like to schedule a follow up call to take a deeper dive and ensure we're the right fit.
HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?
sunshine, rainbows, smiles, color, baby animals...anything happy!!!
