Q What do you do?

I’m a conceptual creative and hands-on Copywriter & Strategist, collaborating with DTC and B2B brands.

I know how to spell things out, so you'll find me helping brands and teams shape brand narratives, identities, and hierarchies from concept to messaging.
I'm also one half of a creative duo with Frankie Dineen. She’s rad. Check us out: whatistangent.com

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

I started off with the typical 9 to 5 for the first few years of my career, working with startup companies. I found I uh.... hated that. Quickly realized I'm more productive, creative, and wealthy managing my own workflows. So, I pivoted into the freelance world and have been knee-deep in it ever since. Now that I'm a freelancer extraordinaire, I'm focused on culture research and consistently evolving my mindset.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I'd say that having strategy AND copy skills enables me to stand out. I'm able to work on projects all the way through to executions, always thinking about the end-to-end journey.

Q What are you working on right now?

A website refresh for a VR company, rebranding a Latino-facing personal care brand, and launching a holistic health organization.

Q What’s your style?

I don't have a specific style. I like to mix it up. The vibes will surface depending on the project and client-type. I'm open-minded, and like to jump into my work with a fresh attitude or else I'll find myself becoming very stuck and un-creative.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I'd love to have the time to dig deeper into my Brand Strategy skills, and even come up with a new unique approach. The Bosley special, they'd call it.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Hmmmm probably the RFP culture and ghostliness of the creative industry. By that, I mean that we creatives put a lot of time and effort into presenting our work (oftentimes, for free) — only to be ghosted. It's not that hard to send an email.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Be a sounding board to talk through all of my ideas.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

Everyone has Imposter Syndrome, it's not just you.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

SEO! I know my basics, but the SEO landscape is ever-changing and I'd appreciate getting the low-down.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Branding, Naming, Packaging, Websites, Campaigns, and Copywriting

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

A collaborative environment in which everyone is open-minded and gives honest feedback. I'm open to working solo or as part of an integrated team. I enjoy discovering new DTC & B2B industries - I’ve even dabbled a bit into AI and cyberspace, which quite literally blows my mind.

Q What is your rate?

My 1099 hourly rate is $80/hr for Copy and $90/hr for Strategy. My minimum project rate is $1,800. I'm pretty flexible though, especially if I'm excited about the work.

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Send an email and give me some background on you, your company and how you’d like to collab. Or, just say hi. I can take it from there. bosleyjessie@gmail.com

Q Who is a creative you admire?

Daniela Brown is a truly visionary, empathetic creative with the beautiful ability of tapping into her clients' mission— and making magic happen. I've collaborated with her on several projects, and hope to do so a million times more.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

Having a stroll or a Pinterest scroll.
