Q What do you do?
Working primarily on social content & support, I create creative concepts and bring the team together to bring them to life to live on organic or paid social. The long short of it, I create cool sh*t for brands thanks to our team of beautiful, creative freelancer minds.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
After working as a duo freelancer with my co-founder for almost 7 years, we realized how absolutely insane the freelancer industry was. Brands just expected us to be able to do everything while wanting to pay us nothing. Through the power of boundaries and growth, we began adjusting our offerings and establishing a strong presence to attract the brands who loved social and understood its value just as much as we did.
Fastforward to 4 years ago, COVID pushed us to "So are we going to do this big time?" And that is exactly what we did. We brought together out community of contractors and began offering graphic design, content creation, website support, influencer management. If we knew someone will a speciality, we went out to find a client they could make magic for.
Today Social Club Studio worked with over 30 freelancers who love how we work just as much as we do.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I can't stop thinking about my contractors and clients. I love getting on a call with a client and watching the conversation naturally unfold. I take on clients that I feel absolutely confident that I can stand behind and am genuinely bought into. I want my brands and team to thrive. Any way that I can be a part of making their marketing dreams come true, I find a way to make it happen.
Q What are you working on right now?
Growing our offering and our team. As our business has grown, I have been craving working on projects personally outside of organic social content like paid ad management, email management, events management, and content creation support. These are projects as founders, we want to be personally immersed in.
But we fully know the value of organic social and want to make accessible support for as many brands as align with our values & ethos. I am developing a club offering that allows us to create a dope team of creatives to create all the cool sh*t for clients within their budgets.
I am having constant conversations to find the people who's creative brains are constantly flowing with campaign ideas, just like ours are!
Q What’s your style?
Our agency style is very Gemini in nature as it is so many things but the greatest representation of this is KA! Empathogenics. It is bright, deep, playful, real, and exudes a feeling of love and connectedness. Their IG really says it all https://www.instagram.com/ka.empathogenics/
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Email marketing. It is so underrated but there is so much space to get so creative and connective. It's the perfect go between a blog and a social post. I love being able to reach people personally and use email to do more then just sell. Emails can spark curiosity, joy, and laughter if done right and I would love to immerse myself in making emails that people can't wait to read.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
Reaching the right clients. The majority of my time is spent exploring and discovering brands on social that are in alignment which if you know the algorithm can take forever. I would love if there was a platform or forum that existed for clients who get marketing and want to create powerful & playful content that brings their brand to life that are currently looking for support v.s my cold DMs.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Remind me to do all the things that keep me present & feeling good i.e if someone would tap me and remind me that it is 3p and most humans have drank 8oz of water at least by this point in a loving way would be priceless.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
"Life is always going to be a lil crazy for you but you're going to thrive in it. Lean into the uniqueness of your career and be proud of the own thing-ness you're doing."
Right before I started Social Club Studio I was so afraid of the crazy or the chaos that could ensue but I was living in a state of stress working multiple jobs being afraid to take the leap, thinking of all the corporate things that I thought I wanted that I would be leaving behind.
To run your own business is a little crazy but boy oh boy is it fufilling. Seeing projects come to life, working with passion, and connecting with people I didn't even know existed has been better than I ever imagined. Younger would have loved to know there is whole other world waiting for her.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I'd love to learn more about the world of Reddit. The authenticity and honesty I see on threads blows my mind but I truly do not understand how a conversation sparks.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Paid Ad Management + Content Creation, Email Management, Event Management, and General Social Content Creation Opps
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
A client who sees social as a way to express their brands full personality. They know that beyond the engagements, likes, and reposts, there is a real opportunity to connect with another human and change their life or simply make them happy with a lil sip or treat. Either way, I want a client that feels passionate about using their brand to bring a little joy to the internet.
Q What is your rate?
Organic Social Support (including all the things to get it live) starts at $5K but we love to work on one off projects for things like paid, email, events, and content creation to get a brand going and stay within their budget.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Email is my favoritest julia@socialclubstudio.com and good meme, dare I say a classic possibly forgotten meme to hit that nostalgia
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Brittany Stark she is my business partner and somehow creative ideas literally pop up in her brain like dandelions.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Move things around! Pictures get taken off the walls, furniture gets shifted. It is quite a scene but it allows my brain to flow and break through the fog of same same. Is this science? Maybe!
