Q What do you do?

I edit videos. Broadcast commercials. Tik Toks. Sizzle reels. All of that good stuff.

I can collaborate with creative teams or run as a solo post house to produce thumb-stopping videos. Past clients include Grey Goose, Acura, KFC, Corona, and Hawaiian Airlines.

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

It all started in Paris!

I had an internship on the calendar and a dream to capture Europe beautifully, so I learned my camera inside and out. My Canon 7D went everywhere with me for a full year and I still have a tweaked shoulder to prove it.

Once back in the US, I studied at the top undergraduate advertising program in the country. There, I worked on creative campaigns for Beats by Dre, Whole Foods, and Spotify. That experience got my foot in the door at a post-production house where I worked my way up from an intern to a full-blown editor.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

In an industry full of egos and attitudes, I’m a team player. My best asset is my ability to read the room and smoothly guide a team through the edit.

While I’m not the AI image of an editor (this girl is a bubbly, shopaholic, Swiftie to the core!), I do avoid the sun as much as possible. Some stereotypes really do hold up 😂

Q What are you working on right now?

I’m improving my animation chops by animating a set of stickers based on Reputation Taylor’s Version. It's such a fun project that will be available soon on Instagram.

Q What’s your style?

Bright, bold, feminine, and true-to-tone.

My photography best represents my style and you'll find that here.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

I thrive off of variety, so I’m happy with the way my time is split at the moment. Every day I wake up excited to juggle editing and content shoots for my clients across all sorts of industries.

One day I hope to niche down into the beauty space. Hi, Glossier? Call me!

Q What is frustrating you right now?

This specific type of job posting:

”ISO Expert Senior Video Editor. 5-7 years of experience. Proficient in Premiere Pro, Avid, and Davinci. Must be able to edit 30 videos per day. Pay is $15/hour.”

In some circles, there’s a lack of information surrounding how much video production actually costs. Expecting to hire a seasoned editor at entry-level pay will do nothing but frustrate everyone involved.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

A personal chef! I’m a foodie who doesn’t like to cook. Go figure.

Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?

I’d tell young Katie to continue experimenting with different roles within production. It’s not a race, and soon you’ll be hooked on that thrill of adding new skill to your toolbox.

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

I’d have a financial consultant on speed dial, please. I’m the complete opposite of a “numbers person,” so I need all the help I can get.

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

I’m looking to work with brands and content creators who want engaging, converting content. Whether it’s a Tik Tok or a broadcast commercial, I’m your gal.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

I find that the best collaborations happen with people who have a clear point of view. People who know what they like or dislike, even if they can’t explain why. A sense of decisiveness keeps a project moving and saves time in the long run.

Q What is your rate?

My rate is $800/day, but I’m open to discuss a project rate. Whatever makes the most sense for the work you need done!

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Shoot me an email at hello@katiebakercreative.com. And you’ll find my portfolio at katiebakercreative.com.

Q Who is a creative you admire?

I love gathering creative inspiration from people outside of my genre. Some favorites include photographer Eden Strader, fiber artist Han Cao, artist Dain Yoon.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

I’m a frequent flier at the public library and movie theaters – anything to keep me from doom-scrolling on Tik Tok.
