Q What do you do?
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I taught myself how to use video editing software. I began by creating passion projects of the type of videos that I’d like to be creating. Through this period of exploration, I found that I really enjoy creating videos for fashion brands because there was a unique story to tell with each fashion brand.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
As a video editor, I strive to create a feeling when I am in the process of curating a video. Most videos I create are fashion related; what makes one video different than the other is the vision that is expressed through the specific fashion style. I want to make sure that the video I am creating is embodying that vision through the feelings it is meant to evoke in the viewer.
Q What are you working on right now?
As a video editor, I strive to create a feeling when I am in the process of curating a video. Most videos I create are fashion related; what makes one video different than the other is the vision that is expressed through the specific fashion style. I want to make sure that the video I am creating is embodying that vision through the feelings it is meant to evoke in the viewer.
Q What’s your style?
My style is ever evolving. I find that I’m always learning more about my style the more I edit videos. One project I recently created, I decided to take a music video style approach to. I found myself really immersing myself in it so if I were to sum up my style into one project it would be that one.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
With video editing, I feel like there is always something to learn. I would love to enhance my technical skills. For the most part, I’ve been prioritizing structuring my work flow as well as making sure my video edits embody the vision I’m striving to create. I would love to start adding advanced effects to my editing.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
I’m frustrated by the unrealistic demands to produce content on social media. I quite often experience burn out from trying to keep up with being present on social media to grow my business.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
I would definitely hire them to manage my social media account!
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
At 18, I wish I could’ve told myself that it’s okay to feel uncertain about the next chapter in my life. That it’s okay to live life without having a five year plan and those anxieties and fears I’m feeling will shine a light on me to follow my heart and believe in myself. When I was 18, I was a senior in high school and I was worried about where life would take me. I had the pressure of my family, peers, and my teachers to pursue the path of a college education. There were so many things I felt I hadn’t addressed within myself. A piece of me wondered if there was another path I could pursue, one that felt more aligned with me. At the time I didn’t think it was possible, but after two challenging years in architecture school I decided to take the leap and listen to my heart. I’m now 22 working towards paving that path for myself.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
The power of perspective. It’s amazing how you can change your whole life by simply changing the way you view it. I’d love to gain as much insight on how to shift my perspective so that I can live my life to the fullest every single day.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I’d love to create videos that embody a vision. I love working on fashion brand videos but I’m itching to experiment with creating music videos!
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My ideal client would be in the fashion or music industry. They’d be passionate about their mission and would have a strong desire to share their vision with the world.
Q What is your rate?
For fashion brands, I’m currently looking to work on a monthly retainer basis starting at $1,200.00 a month.
For any music industry related inquiries, I’m looking to work on a per project basis starting at $3,500.00.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
I would appreciate any work inquiries to be emailed to forbiddenfemme@gmail.com. Please provide a project brief as well as the proposed budget for the project.
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Aurélia Durand
aurelia-studio.com
@4ur3lia
Despite having felt fear about putting herself out there for a multitude of reasons, she shares her vision with the world through her art and she’s inspired me to do the same.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
I find that exercising, listening to music, spending time outside and visiting the city allows my mind to flow into its most creative state!
