Q What do you do?
When I used to give a fork about social media (sorry!), people would tell me I had the *best* captions. Like, they were *living* for them. So good even, that one time I was broached by a Snoop-backed weed start-up to run their social (via an acquaintance/ the co-founder). After a ponder, I declined because my mental health was not in the place to be responsible for someone else’s voice. Dig? Anyhow, looking back I should have meditated on that a bit better ‘cause she’s a big brand now and it probably would have led to some pretty jazzy opportunities. Guess I *miss*ed out on that one. Wink! Now I mostly just dissect scientific journals and editorials related to psychedelic living and plug them into my passion project @potpourri.hq Plug! And occasionally I consult with other brands/businesses on their messaging/narrative and overall brand identity.
So I guess that makes me a copywriter? And a strategist? And a content creator? Words!
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I took 2 steps forward and 3 steps back. And then I sprinted blindly into the abyss (read: great space!) that is my current professional life.
But really, I’m where I am now because I genuinely like working. Not the point where I am miserable and burnt out or allow my hustle to become my identity. I like working because it brings me a sense of accomplishment and purpose. Not in a cosmic way (we’re not in this life just to work and make money), but in a more paired-down-day-to-day-let’s-flex-those-cognitive-muscles way. Also, experimentation. I like to be learning. And I like to try new things. I’ve worked as a set designer, camp counselor, vintage furniture reseller, and administrative assistant. I’m trained in Pilates and canine behavioral psychology. I’ve produced events and hosted workshops. I opened my own retail store and photography studio. The combination of what I have learned (to do, and not to do) has culminated into the far-reaching and ever-growing list of skills I currently possess.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I’ve been told by one recruiter that I have a “bright shining light that comes out from within that is a beautiful thing to share in these days”. So, that’s nice.
But also, due in part to my professional and personal background I believe that I truly offer a very unique viewpoint and mindset. I approach all things with a balance of compassion and pragmatism. I’m flexible and adaptable, but not afraid to push back in order to challenge a thought process. Growth!
Q What are you working on right now?
Professionally: I’m performing some back-end tasks for an upcoming (online) psychedelic conference; registering speakers, emailing sponsors, updating documents, and other cool WordPress stuff. ***I’m also actively looking for more work (preferably remote). This in itself is a full-time job.
Pseudo-Professionally/ Personally: My moonlight gig as a tapestry weaver has turned into sunlight (?) one. I’ve been weaving for close to a decade now, mostly for myself and occasionally for other people. I was working exclusively commission-based but recently decided to take on a self-imposed retail-based project. In the past couple of months, I’ve dedicated myself to this project; taking time each day to sit down at the loom. I have a few more I want to complete and then they will all have to be photographed and cataloged on my site. Buy more art!
Q What’s your style?
My style is a healthy mixture of Rihanna meets the Golden Girls. I grew up in Florida and have been heavily influenced by that aesthetic, both in dress and decor. And Rihanna, because Rihanna (read: taking risks and dressing for oneself).
Perspective wise, you do you boo. My taste can be exemplified by my go-to Q: “Is this ugly or cool?”.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Writing. But I’m too distracted. I’ll need to go into the woods/desert/nature to write my great novella. One number on the Bucket-To-Do-List is to compose a partially autobiographical account of my dad’s life. He’s still alive -but on his way out and has had a hell of a life. Think Kerouac meets Ikea instructions manual: poetically chaotic.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
The impending collapse of humanity. I’m of a Game B mindset though, so I remain cautiously optimistic.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Rub my head and tell me everything is going to be okay.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Yikes. At the risk of sounding like that person: buy that Bitcoin! Picture this: The year was 2014. My friend’s now-ex was rambling on about cryptocurrency investments and although I was intrigued (because I have never trusted Big Bank/fiat), I was mostly confused and overwhelmed so I did nothing. Sigh!
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Financial literacy and establishing a healthy relationship with money.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I’m primarily interested in consulting on projects or build-outs in the *psychedelic/plant medicine* space. This is an area I not only have to experience in but am also enthusiastic about. Generally speaking, anything that operates at the intersection of art and education with a client who wants to get a little weird with it.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
Digital projects can be fun, but I'm most comfortable engaging in a tactile experience. That being said, I’m really looking forward to my next in-person project. My dream job would be working on the conceptualization and execution of an eco-resort/retreat center in a tropical environment. I currently have a prospective lead on this, so fingers crossed the stars align.
Q: What is your rate?
My base rate for general administrative needs is $25.00. For creative consultations or related work, I charge $50.00 an hour. Full project budgets are open for negotiation. Depending on the organization, these numbers are subject to change.
Q Who is a creative you admire?
I really appreciate the cyber art of Marcelo Pinel. It’s the perfect mixture of soothing and trippy.

Another NFT artist I admire is Jonathan Zawada. Specifically, his project Fisherian Runaway. Everybody loves mushrooms!

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Aside from sending me a mini-intro email (about you and your project), setting up a video chat is my preferred method. I need to see, hear, and visually vibe with someone before I take something on. Polyvagal theory has entered the chat.
