Noor Afsa Ali
Medical Doctor / Surgeon / Health Insurance Strategist
Tampa, FL
Q What do you do?
I really just like getting to know everyone I talk to. As a primarily left brained thinker, I have tremendous respect for creative professionals and the magic they create. After understanding things like lifestyle, budget, stage of career, usage of insurance, things they want covered, doctors they love etc, I connect them to an appropriate health plan and they just pay for the benefits they sign up for. Super easy.
I’m like a concierge one-stop white-glove service for health insurance. I do all the research work, homework so you don’t have to.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
Probably the most stand-out thing about me is being a medical doctor in the health insurance field. I studied medicine in my native country, Bangladesh. A country with no global health insurance system.
They don’t teach about health insurance in med school. In fact, I educate a lot of doctors on this too. So, I’m one of the two doctors I know in this field working on health insurance consulting.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I’ve lived, worked and played moved around a lot over the past decade, living and spending time in various creative hubs of Asia, US, Europe. I've studied healthcare systems at a scientific level. I know the system, so I can navigate the system.
Q What are you working on right now?
1. Scaling my business and firing myself from my business, so I can earn more money by doing less work is always the framework. As a #toddlermom, life just gets more and more busy.
2. Hiring and training entrepreneurial minded youth in the Tampa Bay area to do what I do, to offer them opportunities for financial freedom and wealth building at a younger age.
4. Building Think Like A Woman- a community that amplifies women's ambitions and aspirations. I host IRL highly curated round table business networking events. Working on cool product launches and building a digital academy with resources for female founders to get to their next level.
Q What’s your style?
My styyyyle is… helping others no matter the cost? Lol, I don’t know how to answer this because I am not a design professional. But I believe in genuinely helping others even if it’s a loss to me. Because the goodwill will come back.
Fashion wise- I love a very NYC chic and structured style for work.
Q What is frustrating you right now?
I wish I could focus more on my clinical work. Ever since launching my business, I have stepped away from direct patient care. I miss holding a scalpel and slicing up humans. Literally.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Marketing and PR work. Someone to keep those trains moving at all times so I can focus on strategy and business building.
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
BELIEVE IN YO-SELF girl! I went to medical school straight out of high school. From NYC to a rural village with no electricity in Bangladesh. No undergrad education. I had zero business and marketing skills or acumen.
I would have told myself to believe in myself and that I can do it. So I had no formal training? The best way to learn is to stumble, fall, get back up and figure that shit out.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Marketing psychology. So I can sell more and get more happy clients who love me forever.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I’m looking for the opportunity to help creative professionals figure out their health insurance options. Always worth a 15 minute conversation.
Also looking for retail partners for my Think Like a Woman products, and sponsors for my events.
Also, would love to be a guest on your podcast if your audience is primarily women in business.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My ideal client is a 6 figure earning female founder, generally healthy and cares about quality healthcare.
My specialization is COBRA alternatives, 26 year olds aging out of parents' plans and health care options for remote team and agencies.
Q What is your rate?
My 15 minute consultations are $12 USD, non refundable, due at time of booking. This is subject to increase based on season and demand.
My follow up policy review calls are $250 USD, also subject to change due to season and demand but also fully refundable if we don't pursue have a working relationship.
