Stephanie Basoli
Q What do you do?
I started my business in 2020 with the desire to help women entrepreneurs, brands and small businesses design their identity, website, and products with a timeless purpose. With 7 years of experience between France & US, I always loved to bring bold elegance to the projects I worked on. With a contemporary vision and a lot of passion, I help create distinctive and significant stories.
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
I always knew that I wanted to be a creative; painting and crafting "stuff" from an early age. I took some time to decide which way to take. I studied Art and Design at the ESAD, a specialized college in France. But it wasn't a good fit for me. I think I fell in love with graphic design when I started traveling and meeting new peoples who were in this field, it just opened my mind and clicked. So I finally put all my energy and focus and get my Master's degree in Graphic Design & UI/UX Design a couple of years later. After a few experiences in agencies in France, I moved out with my husband to the USA. I lived in a couple of years in San Francisco, getting used to live in another country, traveled around, and I'm now based in Seattle. And I finally create my own company that helps entrepreneurs and small businesses to build the brand of their dreams.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
I love to start working with clients by diving deep into their brand’s vision, identity & ethics. I think that the most I know about the people’s visions, the most I’m efficient to find the best solution for them. We are in the same team for a short period, so they need to be all in. I also accord a lot of importance to stay positive, curious, and empathic. I want my client to be excited and comfortable with the process, and my role is also to guide them to be confident with their new brand identity and website.
Q What are you working on right now?
Right now, I'm working on a Social media bundle for a returning client. I'm also creating my first Squarespace template! 😎
Q What’s your style?
My style is really versatile, I get inspired by a LOT of fields (fashion, industrial design, architecture) and I think they have an impact on my design. Maybe I can resume it as bold and variable. I also change a lot of universe depending on the project, sometime my designs can be colorful and loud (see the project colorbycaily.com) sometimes minimalist and sophisticated. I think that I need to adapt my style to my client's needs, so I stay creative and willing to learn about the trends and techniques.
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
Making art has always been a part of me and my creative process, so I definitely would love to do that more regularly. I got really into linography and rug hooking recently. It's my type of meditation!
Q What is frustrating you right now?
Building my presence online and finding new clients can add some pressure. The freelance's headache, right? Sometimes I'm just feeling overwhelmed by my daily do-to list, but it also a part of the game!
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Someone who can handle my admin would be a dream!
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
I wish I could have told myself to listen to English classes, that there are more colors than black, that knitting is not just for grandmas, to eat organic, and to workout more often.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
I would love to have more insights on my business, how to develop it to have more regular clients, side income, how to be efficient with the admin part.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
I'm looking essentially for branding and website projects, but I also would love to connect with designers, photographers, and artists for any kind of fun projects. I miss collaborating with passionate people in my field!
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
I love building trust and a positive atmosphere when I work with my clients, so I would say the perfect collaboration is when I have the freedom and the support the let my creativity be. The ideal client is someone who trusts me and understands the creative direction, knows how to express his needs, and be involved in the process. I love above all working with women entrepreneurs and small businesses!
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
I do prefer be contacted by email or by ig @stephanie_basoli. Just give me some details about your project and I'll be happy to get back in touch!
Q Who is a creative you admire?
People inspire me a lot even we are not in the same field, Amber Vittoria, Sophia Roe, Cindy Sherman, Baugasm, Alice Pfeiffer, Puno of course are good examples! 😜 And I couldn't be where I am today without the support of Elie Ahovi. 🙏
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
