UI/UX DESIGNER
Overview
We are looking for a talented and motivated UI/UX Designer to join our growing marketing team. This role will report directly to our Marketing Manager and support our lead Web Developer to implement the visual design and development of our website. As our UI/UX Designer, you’ll be responsible for designing wireframes, prototypes and coding them using HTML. You will refine the design of our UI and iterate upon it to ensure a great user experience.
You'll work on the front end of our website helping to bridge UX best practices and production execution. You’ll demonstrate your creativity, analytical skills, and knowledge of user facing technologies to enable efficient, high-quality execution. The ideal candidate will also have a background in graphic design and be able to support our graphic design team as needed.
Please Note: This position will begin contract with the future potential to become full-time.
Responsibilities
Develop landing pages, site content architecture, (links, page render, responsiveness for landing pages, articles, email) using HTML/CSS/JavaScript and modern web technologies
eCommerce site UX/UI Design – for new features and streamlining existing or adapted features
Understand and advocate for the end user
Design engaging and responsive landing pages with a mobile-first approach and UX experience in mind
Ensure design guideline standards are consistent and stable across devices (i.e. desktop, mobile, tablet), resolving any cross-browser compatibility issues.
Take ownership of existing layouts and foster new and creative design ideas in collaboration with the Marketing Manager while maintaining brand standards.
Become our subject matter expert for: Email system provider (Mailchimp) + Email template requirements, email testing process
Manage your own time, working well both independently and as part of a team with the ability to quickly re-prioritize projects in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Occasionally support graphic design team as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in relevant field
2+ years of experience in UX design and interactive work for mobile and web
2+ years of experience launching websites, software, apps, and e-commerce projects.
E-commerce design experience is highly desired (Big Commerce/Shopify experience preferred).
Must have a clean modern aesthetic
Up-to-date knowledge of design software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, specifically Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, and common wireframe tools (i.e. Figma, Adobe XD)
HTML and CSS coding proven knowledge and experience
Design and development for WordPress themes with PHP experience
Comfortable working with flexbox or prebuilt frameworks like Foundation & Bootstrap.
Experience with source code repositories. We do all our development locally and test in a sandbox environment using Beanstalk and GIT.
Solid understanding of digital design issues, including mobile first design, page speed optimization, and cross-platform compatibility
Solid foundation in design, typography, color theory and layout
Proven working experience in web design and/or a portfolio showing work that has been developed with strong visual design capabilities.
Preferably, but not required to be familiar with B2B businesses or one of the industries we serve (jewelry, industrial manufacturing)

COPYWRITER
Overview
The copywriter will work as a collaborative part of the marketing team and be responsible for maintaining the voice of our brand across multiple touch points, including web, emails, digital advertising, social media, and the Gesswein Insider blog. The copywriter is expected to actively contribute to the development of new ideas and create polished, final deliverables whether working solo or collaborating with other members.
The role will range from editing product copy, ensuring appropriate grammar usage across all marketing materials, to brainstorming new creative ideas for Gesswein Insider blog and social media. The copywriter will also be expected to post directly to our blog, maintaining article style consistency, as well as our social media profiles, including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, motivated, organized, responsible and able to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. This role requires not only excellent written, verbal, and communication skills but also creativity.
Please Note: This position will begin part-time (avg 25 hrs/week) with the ability to move into full-time.
Responsibilities
Brainstorm, concept, and collaborate with marketing team members to determine the copy direction of Gesswein’s branding, marketing, and advertising initiatives
Work with marketing team to create strategic marketing assets for digital marketing projects including, but not limited to email, web banners, landing pages, blog posts, social assets, etc.
Creative evolution – stay up to date with branding and advertising in all mediums with a focus on digital and social
Study and manage current trends within our industries including jewelry, mold polishing, 3-D post processing, and more.
Maintain and standardize spelling, grammar, styling, and naming conventions across all web, digital, and social media platforms
Create and distribute social media content on social platforms including Gesswein Insider blog, Linked In, Facebook, and Instagram
Transform scientific or technical language into digestible, relatable, consumer-friendly copy
Qualifications and Attributes
Bachelor’s degree required
3+ years copywriting for web, email, and owned digital marketing channels, B2B experience a plus
Preferably (but not required) to have a background in one of the major industries we serve: jewelry, manufacturing, industrial trades.
Experience in both print and digital marketing/advertising
Mastery of written communication, both short- and long-form
A solid understanding of marketing and advertising principles
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Accuracy and attention to detail
An understanding of the latest trends and their role within a commercial environment
Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment
Ability to actively contribute to strategic brainstorming, creative-brief development, and creative execution
