Restarting Client Projects

Hi Puno! I’ve been working with a client whose had a few personal issues come along that has delayed our project. We’ve had some contact intermittently to start it up again, but I haven’t heard back since our last email. From your experience, how often should I reach out to a client on a project? I don't want to overload them, but it also feels weird not to reach out.

I would say email them once a week and then end with, “Also, completely understand if you need some more time, but happy to be the one that gets these things moving
if it’s easier to jump on a quick call or screen share so we can go through everything together! I’m excited to get this project started!”

Also, this is why I like to add their phone number in the contract. This way I can just call or text them. Sometimes, depending on my relationship, I’ll text “Hey there, it’s Puno. I just sent you an email but just checking in to make sure everything’s OK!”

I typically will reach out weekly and escalating things per week by using the Snooze feature in Gmail. Escalation could mean adding a final date and deliverable from the client. Below are a few example emails!
