Q What do you do?
Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?
My design career began with a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communications (hons) at the University of Technology in Sydney ( I graduated in 2013).
Whilst at uni I started doing freelance work for the yoga studio I religiously attended, and this turned into my full time job after graduation. Here I connected with other people within the Wellness/Health/Medical industry and had the opportunity to work on many different projects.
I have since worked at creative agencies and as a designer and creative with many job titles in various industries and countries. The past twelve years, life has taken me through agencies, in-house roles and co-working spaces in Australia, Denmark and Switzerland.
Q How do you stand out in your field?
All of my work is grounded in strategy and intention. I help my clients set a goal when they come to me (which sometimes takes a bit of unpacking), and then I figure out how to best get them there. Sometimes this means sending them on their way if I find that I cannot support them in the best way to reach their goal.
Q What are you working on right now?
A website in a day project for a swiss therapist, getting my Showit template shop set up and developing an SEO course!
Q What’s your style?
Elegant & modern but most of all purpose and strategy driven. www.nathmakesthings.com/portfolio/nathalie
Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?
I am currently obsessing over SEO and I want to know everything!
Q What is frustrating you right now?
I am low-key obsessed with optimizing my workflows and systems and sometimes this ends up taking time away from more 'concrete tasks' that need doing. I start pulling on one string, and before I know it I've created a full time project out of something that actually doesn't need to be re-imagined just now.
Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?
Social media content creation and lead generation
Q What do you wish you could have told yourself, when, and why?
Just do you and follow your excitement! Your multiple skills and interest are an asset, you do not need to niche down and become an expert in one field only. I would have had so much more fun, and ease in my creative journey had I ignored the niche down advice earlier.
Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?
Scaling my business and preparing my systems in the best possible way for scaling up. Also nervous system regulation and prepping my nervous system for bigger and better things.
Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?
Website projects :) I am having so much fun creating digital homes fo people and cannot get enough of creating websites! I'm looking to work with people who are ambitious and ready to get going with or re-align creatively with their endeavours.
Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.
My ideal collab is someone who is looking to navigate more purposefully and establish deeper connections with their people. They are ambitious and ideally their business is heart centered regardless of what industry they are in. For website projects my ideal client already has all their brand imagery, text and branding ready to go so that we can get started right away!
Q: What is your rate?
My website in a day service/semi-custom website is 2200 €. Custom websites start at 4400€ and custom branding at 3100€. Each project depends on scope and page numbers, functionality etc.
Q How should someone approach you about working together?
Get in touch via my website: nathmakesthings.com or shoot me an email: nathalie@nathaliesr.com and let me know what you are looking to create, including scope, timeline and goals!
Q Who is a creative you admire?
Finola Billings, my ride or die fellow creative who is a brilliant messaging strategist, writer and content creator.
Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?
Connecting with nature & exercising to keep the mind clear and the creative juices flowing
