Q What do you do?

Social media and brand/creative consulting.

I'm here to help artists and brands understand the lens their audience views them from digitally, make social media less overwhelming to manage and contextualize their presence, projects or products appearing on tiny screens into something meaningful and memorable.
My past and present clients across social media management and consulting include: Halsey, Sofia Richie, Ashley Tisdale and their brands about-face, AF94, Being Frenshe, Frenshe and Frenshe Interiors. And brands Malin+Goetz, Pagerie, Jac+Jack and Rosie Huntington Whiteley's Rose Inc.
I've created content for the above mentioned plus: Gucci Beauty, Rebecca Taylor, Crown Affair, Vogue Eyewear, Zac Posen, ELSE, Amazon Pets, Ace Hotel, NYFW, Flanelle Magazine and Hara The Label."

Q What steps did you take to get to where you are now?

In 2013, I created a youtube channel with my best friend Orion Carloto everything spiraled from there. Starting as an influencer before being an influencer was actually cool and you had massive teams, I learned all aspects of content creation and running social media like a business. As social media began to become an actual industry, and brand partnerships were introduced, I found a love for creating content for brands. I pivoted, following my passions to consulting with brands on their own social media strategies and content— spending time behind the cameras and screens. In 2018 I moved to LA and landed a job as creative and social media manager directly in support of a luxury fashion brand's creative director who helped me fine-tune my skill set. Between then and now I've worked with artists, entrepreneurs and industry disruptors to help strengthen their creative and storytelling to build a strong community.

Q How do you stand out in your field?

I've been a bit of a chameleon over the years! I have been working in this industry since it's early days and evolved alongside culture, platforms, and algorithms have changed. Because of this, I've been able to wear so many different hats and continue to do so! It's my favorite part about this career. I've also worked from both brand and creator perspectives and can offer a POV on both sides of the coin. And mostly, I stay curious. I'm also trying to dig deep and stay refreshed on how humans use social media and understand creative at any time given social and political climates. That knowledge helps me help clients know how to position themselves or their brands to identify, target, pollinate and shake your corner of the internet (no matter how niche or mainstream).

Q What are you working on right now?

If we're talking bigger picture, then aligning with more creatives and projects that feel like they're cueing culture in a unique and positive way.
As for on the everyday, a little bit of everything— from planning campaign strategy for a client’s upcoming product launch, to editing a zine and (as always) self-shooting UGC assets for clients.

Q What’s your style?

Like I mentioned, I love being a chameleon. I'm working on a campaign right now for one client's campaign shoot that visually has a very clean, minimal and organic aesthetic, while also working on another client's campaign assets that's punchy and campy, inspired by beach fashion in the Y2K era and I love both of them equally. I love anything with a strong narrative that conveys a story perfectly— through visuals and messaging.

Q Out of all your slashies, which one do you wish you could do more often?

If I had the time, I would love to dabble in analog photography or prop styling.

Q What is frustrating you right now?

Seeing artists and brands blend together at the guidance of what's trending or viral— and creating content and strategies from a place of only wanting virality. It's amazing when it happens, but truly successful brands and creatives are ones that stood out and really have something to say. That's how you stay in a good position. I wish more people understood a viral video or two is a lot different (and a lot less valuable) than a sustainable, dedicated audience, and the way you get that audience is an even combo of great strategy and well considered content.

Q If you could hire someone for $20/hour, what would you have them do to make your day easier?

Helping pull references and reports! Those are major time suckers!

Q If you could talk to an expert to gain more insight on something, what would it be about?

I would love to talk to psychologists about human behavior on social media and how it's affected / affecting us (both good and bad).

Q What kind of opportunities/projects are you looking for?

Creative consulting, social media strategy, and content creation in the fine arts, beauty and lifestyle spaces. I'd also love to work with some more interior-design focused clients! It's a huge personal interest and feels like a natural next category to dabble in.

Q Describe your ideal job/client/collaboration.

My favorite types of clients aren't afraid of going against the grain. They're collaborative and trusting at the same time. They understand their WHY.

Q What is your rate?

I cater my rates and services to the need of each client and project. I typically work on monthly retainers, but am open to hourly consulting work. Reach out via email with what you're looking for and I'm happy to shoot over accurate rates!

Q How should someone approach you about working together?

Email me at social@samfazz.com with an intro, and if you have an idea of scope and budget in mind that's always helpful!

Q Who is a creative you admire?

For photo, Logan Mock (aka @loganleemock on IG). He's an incredible photographer I love working with. His style is rich in texture, and relaxed and comforting in feeling. His work feels really timeless to me.
For video, Dalton Belew (aka @belewdalton on IG). He's also quite the chameleon! He can serve you up a documentary, a masterclass, a podcast visual and elevated social content all in a days work.

Q Oh! and… how do you stay creative?

My life long mission is to preserve my curiosity as if I was still a kid. Deep dives on the internet after a trivial question pops in my brain, reading, watching movies, scrolling and most of all, just romanticizing everyday things in life.
