WHAT DO YOU DO?

I’m a floral and jewelry designer, with a background in interior design. I also have experience working in art direction, as a stylist/ stylist assistant, and in photo editing.

Although I have worn many hats, but my heart is truly in creating florals on set as well as for private clients.

Over the course of 15 years I have obtained floral knowledge independently  working with private clients, as well as while assisting high volume florist. My client work has often required me transition loose conceptual ideas into full color stories and design layouts. Being able to quickly see what a client is wanting to communicate for a space/ event/ set is crucial for every project I partake in. As a designer I find a lot of joy in creating exciting and impactful florals that are memorable for the big moments they are so often a part of.

WHAT STEPS DID YOU TAKE TO GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?

Persistence. I continually find opportunity even when it is not obvious. Also, keeping a “get it girl!” attitude has been huge for me. I have no problem putting myself out there, and for that a lot of my growth has been either from referrals or direct interactions.

How do you stand out in your field?

I feel I am a well rounded creative, meaning my eye is trained for balance and composition in many different mediums.. well beyond floral design. I see the micro movements needed for higher levels of balance in multiple situations. Whether it be the placement of a prop, color of a lip, location of a zinnia within a composition, I tend to just know. Which can be refreshing and so helpful in so many situations. I feel this is one of my special gifts.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON RIGHT NOW?

I have very recently begun operating from the handle @offerings.co. I am anticipating bringing on more large scale personal and client based projects throughout the next year while utilizing this new brand model.

WHAT'S YOUR STYLE/PERSPECTIVE/TASTE? DO YOU HAVE A PROJECT THAT REPRESENTS THIS?

My personal style is very “delicate yet present” I would say. I love to create a story within my work, allowing for the viewer to feel invested emotionally in some way.
I currently am loving this moment fashion is having of heavy retro vibes with dreamy filters on film cameras and a sense of “when did this happen?”.

I also love negative space, big skies, pops of bright in a muted setting. Things that feel romantic and playful are also so important to me. I feel my current editorial work as well as the opening image to my site www.offerings.co reflect these loves.

WE ARE ALL SLASHIES WITH MULTIPLE SKILLS, WHICH ONE DO YOU WISH YOU COULD DO MORE OFTEN?

I currently plan to build my floral business to being my sole focus. I love my jewelry line as well, so just really honing in on building the two, and finding a balance within that. I currently spend a great deal of my creative time working with florals, so it would really just be more of a shift to creating at a higher volume.

WHAT IS FRUSTRATING YOU RIGHT NOW?

I just  moved to LA a couple months ago, so getting the momentum going has been my main focus. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a frustration. However, there is definitely a little voice in me that is screaming out “I am here LA! Lets get it!!” .. but I know with time it will all begin to flow.

IF YOU COULD HIRE SOMEONE FOR $20/HR, WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE THEM DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY EASIER?

Oh my goodness.. Just go for it! Let go of the weird feelings of “what am I doing” and just do it! Seriously. Human beings are such creative and curious beings, like you’re only going to learn by doing it.. So .. just do it!

LET'S BRING OUT THE TIME MACHINE. WHAT DO YOU WISH YOU COULD HAVE TOLD YOURSELF, WHEN, AND WHY?

I would love to talk to an expert on consistent pricing strategies as a floral entrepreneur. I’m sure there are 9000 e-courses on this, but there is something really special about face to face communication. Especially in floral design there can be so many additional factors that can go into play. That insight would be incredible.

IF YOU COULD TALK TO AN EXPERT TO GAIN MORE INSIGHT ON SOMETHING, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

I would love to talk to an expert on consistent pricing strategies as a floral entrepreneur. Especially in floral design there can be soo many additional factors that can go into play. That insight would be incredible.

WHAT KIND OF OPPORTUNITIES/PROJECTS ARE YOU LOOKING FOR?

I would love to do more editorial style floral work, and installations, but I honestly love it all. Private dining events for large corporate fundraisers and celebrations would also be really amazing to conceptualize for. I'm also anticipating take on more prop styling work.

DESCRIBE YOUR IDEAL JOB/CLIENT/COLLABORATION.

My ideal client/job would definitely be working on an abstract set design utilizing loads of florals and colors for a client like Vogue (or another massive publication).

I have a wedding this fall that is bright and tropical installs with elegant fiesta vibes that I swear I manifested. So excited to do something so vibrant!

WHAT IS YOUR HOURLY RATE, RETAINER, OR SALARY RANGE?

My rates vary dramatically depending on scale of project. Of course independently designing a wedding will be priced quite differently from working freelance for another designer on a wedding of their own. For the later my rate is currently $25 an hour for the current 2018 season.

HOW SHOULD SOMEONE APPROACH YOU ABOUT WORKING TOGETHER?

Please really just reach out! Grabbing a coffee is great, but so is sending a personable and professional email. All in all I'm here to build!

HOW DO YOU STAY CREATIVE?

Laughter and travel forever!!
