Raising Your Rates
Hi Puno! How do you effectively communicate to a previous/retainer client that you’ve raised prices since last working with them (without feeling weird or guilty about it)? Especially after you’ve invested in yourself and improved your skills.
If it’s a retainer client, I would give them a month or so, or whatever you’re comfortable with, so that they can move on to another designer if they need to for budget reasons.
For previous clients who have a pricing inquiry, I would email them ahead of time and let them know your hourly rate has changed, but that you’re happy to give them the same rate for the next X months, if you’re available.
